Italian Tortellini Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 13, 2011
Did I do something wrong? I followed the recipe exactly and it was so bland except the tortellini itself. Perhaps a different broth could have helped, but I used a lower sodium healthy one like the one in the recipe. Very disappointed... :(

Jennie's Heavenly Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2010
This dish was delicious prepared exactly to recipe, and made A LOT of food. I served it with egg noodles (the flat dumpling style) and the recipe yielded 7-8 servings. I've been making slow cooker chicken stroganoff from this site for many years, but I think this recipe is more flavorful. Thank you!

Amish Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Feb. 14, 2010
This casserole is excellent. I have made it twice now. Both times I prepared it the night before and kept it in the refrigerator. Then, the next morning I put the casserole in a cold oven and cooked for a total of 45 minutes. I made it once with bacon and shredded potatoes, and then another time with cubed ham and diced potatoes. Our favorite combination is shredded potatoes with ham. Even my 3-year old loved it!

Hoppin' John

Reviewed: Feb. 1, 2010
I loved this dish. Very minor modifications-- I used brown rice, so I had to cook it for about 20 extra minutes. I also had to add an extra 1 1/2 c. water. I added 2 tsp of minced garlic and decreased the red pepper flakes to accommodate kids. Family members thought it was "too subtle", though.

Incredibly Cheesy Turkey Meatloaf

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
A family favorite. I make it with a 20 oz package of ground turkey, add two shredded carrots, and then slightly decrease the milk and bread crumbs. An 8 oz package of shredded cheese is plenty. And it yields 8 generous slices!

Cha Cha's White Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
I thought this was ok but too soupy for my family's taste. We prefer the Blonde Chicken Chili from this same site. The pre-cooked chicken turned out kind of tough, too. The seasoning was nice.

Fantastic Black Bean Chili

Delicious and very simple-- the best turkey chili I have ever made. I added 1 tsp. cumin and otherwise followed the recipe exactly. Thank you!

Good, and simple, but didn't knock my socks off.

Artichoke and Sun-Dried Tomato Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2009
I'm surprised to rate such a simple dish with 5 stars, but it was excellent and everyone in my family liked it! I followed the recipe almost exactly. I used Hunt's Fire-Roasted tomatoes and marinated artichoke hearts, and served it over spiral pasta. Fast, simple, delicious-- just the kind of meal perfect for a week night!

Honey Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2009
Excellent-- the whole wheat floue couldn't be detected at all. Definitely make without papers. I used chocolate chips instead of raisins-- just what I had on hand.

Curry Pumpkin Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Delicious! I made the recipe as written except with fat free half & half, and it was very rich and creamy. I loved it. That said the other people in my family weren't as crazy about it, but I find you can't please everyone with pumpkin soup. To me it was perfect!

Garbanzo Stir-Fry

I thought this was delicious! I added red onion and asparagus, and used dried basil and oregano. I served it over whole wheat couscous. Wonderful, simple, healthy meal-- I feel great afterwards!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2009
I just made this for the first time and followed the recipe exactly. I'd say the taste was 4 stars but it was SO easy that I'm giving it 5-- i think I can make the flavor better by using a better salsa and starting with some sauteed onions.

I thought this was excellent. I followed the recipe exactly. Next time I think I will decrease the pasta and increase the beans.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
Fantastic! Made two coffee cake layers and doubled the liquor (I used kahlua). I think I may have underwhipped the cream-- it was a bit soft-- but once chilled in the fridge it was wonderful. SO GOOD!!

BUSH'S® Black Bean and Mango Salad

Very good... though it wasn't a huge hit at the cookout I took it to. Corn helps. I thought the quantity of green onions was too high.

Black Bean and Corn Quesadillas

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
I love this quesadilla recipe! I reduced the pepper slightly but otherwise followed the recipe exactly. It was great with whole wheat tortillas. Even my 3-year-old enjoyed it. I had some of the leftover filling with brown rice with cheese on top.
