Monkey Bread I

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2011
So so good! Used Pecans instead of walnuts and left out the raisins, all because of personal preference. The caramel sauce is absolutely heaven! Of course I used real butter instead of margarine and added a pinch of kosher salt to the sauce, because I am IN LOVE with the sweet/salty caramel taste. My bread was a bit hard on the top but I think I cooked my caramel sauce just a little too long and it was really thick so it didnt seep down into the bread as much as I would have liked. Otherwise this was the bomb! Burned my fingers and tongue because I could not wait for it to cool any!

Easy Money Breakfast Burritos

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2010
These are absolutely delicious! I made a few small changes such as using sausage AND crumbled bacon and added sauteed mushrooms. Used shredded sharp cheddar instead of the velveeta. Loved the green chilis, they add just the right taste. The only other thing I did differently was I did not include the salsa inside the burrito but added it as we were eating them. Next time I might used pepper jack cheese or add just a few jalapenos for a little kick. Also might use a hotter salsa, I just used mild this time for those in my household that dont like very spicy foods. These get 2 thumbs up!!

Pumpkin Sheet Cake

Very good and moist! Made these into cupcakes. The only thing I might do differently next time is add more cinammon or pumpkin pie spice might be good.

Basic Cream Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2010
Excellent frosting!! This will be my go-to recipe from here on out. However, I only used 3 cups of sugar and I thought it tasted perfect so left the last cup out. Put this on pumpkin cupcakes. Delicious!!

Baked Homemade Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 13, 2010
I loved this! Made the roux first then melted in the cheese. I used a mixture of cheddar and pepper jack which I feel gave it just the right amount of kick. Also I topped it with panko instead of the crackers mainly because I didnt have any, but also I prefer panko because it adds a nice crunch. My ONLY complaint about this was it had a grainy texture and I would have prefered a creamier texture. Not sure how to fix that, maybe next time I will bake this in a deeper yet smaller dish. The one I used was VERY large and that may have contributed to the grainy dry texture. I will be making this one again, maybe will experiment a little to find a better texture.

Fresh California Salsa

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
Loved this! I pureed all in the food processor because I really dont care for chunky salsa. Only used 2 cloves of garlic and that was too much for me. 3 would have been WAY OVERKILL!

Fried Corn with Bacon

Reviewed: Sep. 10, 2010
Really good! Dont like bell peppers so left that out. Added a dash of heavy cream and a tablespoon of sugar at the end, though probably would have been perfectly fine without the extra calories. Cant wait to make again, next time with frozen corn.

Marinara Sauce II

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2010
Pretty good stuff! Added a small amount of white wine and also added oregano. I also pureed the finished sauce since my family does not like any chunks of tomato.

Amazing Italian Lemon Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2010
I thought this was delicious. That being said, I did make changes to the Lemon Butter Sauce. I doubled all the ingredients except for the butter, which I only used 1/4 cup. When I tasted it I thought it was just way too lemony and strong so I added 1 can of chicken broth and a little flour to make it thicken. After making those changes I thought it was delicious. My family does not like Italian food. *GASP!* I know, they are weird! So I probably wont be making this again any time soon even though I enjoyed it very much.

Winter Blossom's Often Requested Ham Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
To be completely fair to the submitter of this reciped, I probably used the wrong kind of ham. I just used a prepackaged ham steak that I already had. It was too salty even for me to eat, and I LOVE salt! I'm sure if I had used fresh ham leftovers or even from the deli it would have been exactly what I was looking for. My great grandmother used to make the most delicious ham salad ever and I was looking for that taste. I will try this once again with some different ham and I'm sure it will be 5 star worthy!

Poor Man's Hamburger Steaks

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2010
Delicious comfort food! I seared my burgers on the stovetop just for color and to get rid of a litttle of the grease. Then I finished in the oven. Added a little minced onion to the burger mixture as well. Also mixed gravy mix and a little milk in with the cream of mushroom. It was outstanding and very easy! Will be making this one again!!
