About this Cook
My cooking tragedies
YEARS AGO, bought pizza items, somehow the pepperoni fell out of the cart. Got home and needed "meat" for the pizza. Substituted with hot dogs... ICK! Husband lovingly still teases me about that one. Now I check that the pepperoni is there when I check out at the register!!

Out of this World Turkey Brine
I have used this recipe 3 years in a row. I just made it again today. This plus Alton Brown's turkey recipe = the best! My 72 year old father-in-law said it was the best turkey he's EVER eaten! I lovingly get teased from my mother-in-law about it every year! I use a cleaned out ice chest and cover the top layer in 3" of ice cubes and store it outside (I live in the NW and the outdoors keeps it cold).

Butternut and Acorn Squash Soup
My family would prefer if I left out the cinnamon. Otherwise, it was so yummy. I am not normally a fan of soup but it was yummy. Give yourself more prep time since you need to cook the squash first to soften it. I will make again, minus the cinnamon.

Roasted Winter Squash Seeds
YUM YUM!! Who would have known these were so tasty! They are like miniature pumpkin seeds. I am just sad that I don't have more. My kids are just about to walk in the door on this crisp autumn day from school and they will devour them! If only more people knew!
