Cool Whipped Frosting

4 stars for the recipes AS IS. I think it could be a 5 star recipe if you use these modifications. 1. Like other people said, use whipping cream and whip your own...makes a difference. 2. I used white chocolate pudding instead of vanilla...deliciously rich tasting but also light feeling...good. 3. chill it after you ice whatever your icing, and it will be BEAUTIFUll.

Fig Cake I

this was a very moist and flavorful cake. I did make a few changes. I decided to make this cake when a relative gave me some jarred figs she had canned from her own tree, I patted them dry and chopped them up i ended up having almost two cups and decided to use it all. I also put 1 cup of sugar and 1/2 cup of brown sugar...seemed to add to flavor and moist factor. and for the frosting i made a cinnamon cream cheese frosting. overall this cake is delicious.

Chicken and Broccoli Braid

I love this recipe! It looks really nice for get togethers and it tastes great. I bought a rotesserie chicken and diced up the meet for a more succulent flavor. I also added a little parmasean cheese in the feeling and sprinkled some on the top. I thought it did fine at 28 minutes you want to make sure the inside isn't doey and i Kind of like it a little crisper on the outside, more pleasing to the pallet. I will make this again I think I will trying using sour cream instead as others suggested...more garlic too!

Chili con Carne III

This is a great base recipe. To it I always add green pepper, red pepper, jalapeno, and a little salsa. I also double the cumin and chili powder. Overall an excellent base and good thick chili

Chicken Tortilla Soup V

This recipe is wonderful or to build on and there is plenty left over. I have made this a number of times with the following changes: I boil the chicken first then shred it, I also add in black beans, rice, jalapenos, red, green and yellow or orange peppers diced and i usually double the spices. it turns out beautifully with sour cream and cheese on top! Serve it with cornbread and you have a hearty and beautifully colored meal.

Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

I really like this soup it had an interesting flavor and lentils are very underutilized in our culture. They are so cheap and packed with fiber and vitamins. The color was a little funny but the taste was great. I did add some garbanzo beans and some wocerstershire sauce also a tiny bit of brown sugar and tossed in a few shakes of hot pepper sauce. Very yummy with home made bread and even better reheated the next day

Red Velvet Cake IV

I made this cake for my husband for his birthday, it was phenomenal. I did have to leave it in the oven about 15 minutes extra. And I would definitely sift the cocoa with the flour and add food coloring to butter sugar mix. I have submitted a photo of the cake i made, just click on the picture on the recipe to see the color I acheived following the recipe exactly, if you are going for a deeper red I would add 2-3 times the amount of food coloring. To ice the cake I would make sure you let the white chocolate cool to luke warm because if th icing is to warm you won't be able to work with it. Also to lower the amount of fat I used 8 oz regular cream cheese and 8 oz fat free cream cheese and it tastes great. I have to say i was shocked by the amount of butter in this cake but it tasted sooooo good, we had to give some of it away or we woul dhave been balloons.

Crab Bites

as is this recipe is not that great but if you try tsome of these changes it is excellent. I use 1 thing of cream cheese not 2 and I would also use instead the imitation crab meat as opposed to the meat in the can, it is a better taste and texture and I use more like 10 oz of it. add in 2 tsp of Old Bay seasoning and 1 tsp of hot pepper sauce and some finely minced red pepper. Pipe it out using a baggy with a cut corner onto cucumber slices to counteract the spiciness and you will have a great appetizer.

This is an excellent recipe I always add in a little apple sauce and some chocolate chips it turns out great! I usually make it to 1.5 scale and use the extra batter for muffins.

Chicken Artichoke Dip

Best Ever Pie Crust

I have used this recipe probably 10 times and have just forgotten to rate. I love this easy recipe and when I am looking for a tastier crust I just use butter instead of shortening or half shortening and half butter. I do not recomend letting it sit for 4 hours if you use butter, it is to hard to roll. Overall a good tasting and easy to do crust

Caesar Salad II

I would have given this 5 stars except I messed up a little by not slowly adding the oil and i got a tad too much lemon juice so I had to up mustard and worchestershire sauce to compensate but I still enjoyed it, it wasn't necessarily a Caesar to my taste but I still thought it was good and hey if my 3 year old eats it it must be saying something. Thanks

Slow Cooker Chicken and Dumplings

I would have given this recipe 5 stars because it is so delicious but i changed so many thngs in it, i wasn't sure if it deserved it. I used boneless skinless chicken thighs instead of brests, I also used chicken broth and added chopped celery at the beginning as well as thyme a bay leaf and poultry seasoning and carrots towards the end. also i used a recipe for dumplings from scratch instead of buying them because they are so easy and taste so much better. This dish was fabulous and I ended up having to make more biscuits the next day for left overs.

Zucchini Bread IV

I halfed this recipe because I only had 1 loaf pan, man was i wishing i had just run to the store and bought another pan. this recipe is excellent! Like others I added about half a cup more zucchini then called for, and since it is hard to half 3 eggs I just put in 2, i also added nutmeg and used cinnamon apple sauce instead of oil. Unlike what other people said the bread was not too dense for me, I think the key may be whipping the eggs to the right texture. This wonderful recipe made the house smell like the holidays I couldn't wait for it to be done baking!
