Kashmiri-Style Kidney Beans with Turnips

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2008
This is an awesome, delicious dish - don't let the unconventional main ingredients turn you off. Nobody I served this to guessed that it had turnips, and it looked beautiful with all the colors.

Carrot Souffle

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2006
Pretty eggy and without as much carrot taste as I had hoped for. Still very good though, about 1/2 cup of sugar is plenty.

Awesome. I followed the suggestions here to reduce the fat and added tofu for a yummy veggie meal.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
These make great vegan brownies. Substitute 1/4 c. canola oil and 1/4 c applesauce for the butter, and 1/2 c. pureed tofu for the eggs. Trust me, they are good and you don't taste any of that "weird" stuff.

Cranberry Waldorf

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This was a good recipe but not what I am used to waldorf salad being. It would probably be much better if more yogurt was used.

Wild Mushroom Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2004
This is a great stuffing. I replaced the egg bread with a whole-grain bread, and it was pretty good. Also added some garlic since I'm a garlic fiend. Everyone said it was the best stuffing they ever tasted.

Chocolate Turtle Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2004
A very good cake, although I still prefer plain old New York-style cheesecake! I added a little extra butter to make the crust, and that turned out fine. Liked the thickness of it. Caramel was a little hard for me also, but maybe bringing it to room temperature before serving would help? Good chocolate fix anyway. ;)

Chocolate Cherry Cake II

Very good! I used a white cake mix and vanilla extract instead of almond. Frosted with cream cheese frosting.

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup II

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2004
This is a great recipe. Tastes like a gourmet soup you would pay fifteen dollars a bowl for at a fancy restaurant! :) I had some leftover french onion soup that I used in place of the onions and some of the liquid. It was very good. I don't have any more french onion soup, so I will definately saute the onions this time before adding them.

Creamy Swiss Chicken

Reviewed: May 3, 2004
This is really an excellent recipe, but I did make a couple of changes. I doubled the recipe but used about half the wine, because the first time I made this the flavor came out a bit too strong for me. I also used about 1 1/2 cups of croutons on top for a nice crunchy topping. Broccoli is also good in this sauce, cooked with the chicken. It is a very versatile recipe and responds well to different combinations of spices.

Honey Mustard Tofu

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2004
Good, I liked it but I have had better tofu. Maybe honey mustard just isn't my thing. I had to add more wine because it seemed a bit sweet to me. Gets a four because it was not a bad dish for being so easy!

Enchiladas Suizas

Reviewed: Apr. 4, 2004
Delicious. The peppers I got were not spicy at all, so I added some store-bought salsa. Best enchiladas I've ever had, and I've never even made them before.

Stop eating hamburgers! Why would you, anyway, with delicious portabello mushrooms that are so much quicker and healthier? This recipe is the best I've tried.

Panettone I

a nice moist bread! adding whole wheat flour also gives it a nice texture. It rose up high and we ate the whole thing in a couple of days. An excellent bread, great with butter and jam. :)
