One Dish Chicken Bake

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2005
Thought this was okay... as someone else mentioned, would be a good standby.

Banana Crepes

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
This was SO delicious! Especially the sauce which had the perfect balance. I also used sliced bananas, and reserved a few to serve on top. My husband loves crepes and he couldn't stop raving about this one! Thanks!

Double-Decker Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
This fudge was too easy to make! It firmed out quite nicely, looked and tasted great! For precise and easy measuring, (and for an easy, clean transfer) I used a ladle to transfer the marshmallow mixture to the chips... My ladle holds 1/2 c. of liquid so three ladle fulls and I got the first half of the mixture.

Baklava

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2005
My first attempt at making Baklava and it turned out great! I slightly melted the butter and used a pastry brush to apply it. Also, because the phyllo is so delicate, and because I'm a huge fan of parchment paper, I used a sheet of it to assemble and cut the baklava on before transferring it to a baking pan. Then of course, when the baklava was finished and cooled, I simply lifted the paper out of the pan and was ready to go! Delicious!

Poblano Chicken Enchilada Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
This was okay... but on the bland side. I can't put my finger on what this might need to make it better... the suggestions of onions would probably be a good start. Maybe even switching the cheese to a jack variety.

Best Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
A nice change from just a side of rice or broccoli. I thought this was good, but also average in taste.

Grilled Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
Good, but wasn't as flavorful as I thought it would be... Next time I'll marinate it for longer than 20 minutes.

Ga Ga Clusters

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
This was good... if I make it again, I'll also cut down on the marshmallows.

Russian Tea Cakes I

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2005
I made these to include in cookie gift tins that I'm making and am sorry that I didn't double the recipe so that I could have more for myself! These are wondeful; my first thought, "melt-in-your-mouth" and buttery. I'm definitely going to have to make more! Thanks!

Chicken Katsu

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2005
Appears as if you'll have yourself a pretty simple and basic meal... chicken, flour, breadcrumbs, etc. But WOW! This was far more flavorful than I was expecting! As someone else commented, the panko crumbs make a huge difference vs. regular bread crumbs. Very easy to make, very enjoyable to eat! I'm looking forward to having this again! Thanks for sharing your recipe!

Frogmore Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
I'm definitely the minority on this one... But I didn't think there was much to this stew. Once drained, it pretty much tasted like I just threw together the potatoes, sausage, corn and shrimp. I didn't find the old bay seasoning to add much to the flavor and therefore didn't find this impressive. Sorry!

Charley's Slow Cooker Mexican Style Meat

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
If you'd like to try this, don't get intimidated by some of the other reviews... The sauce is in fact VERY spicy (it made my husband gag when he tasted it), but the meat itself is tolerable (with *just* a hint of spice)! I strained the meat from the juices, shredded it and used it to make mulas (griddled sandwiches made with corn tortillas), adding cheese and chopped cilantro. On an additional note, although the sauce was very packed with flavor and spice, I agree that the inside of the meat was a little bland... If I used more of a mild sauce (I used tobasco), once I shredded the meat, I would have placed it back into the slow cooker for about 30 minutes to cook in and absorb the juices. But as I had made it, it was still somewhat tasty and we enjoyed our meal. I'll probably try this again with the modification.

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2005
Yum! These are really good! However, two words of advice: PARCHMENT PAPER. It could've just been me, but the dough was VERY sticky, even after chilling overnight. I added a little bit of extra flour, rolled it between parchment and used a sheet of it to bake on top of as well, which really made things a lot easier.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2005
Although, for the most part, this held up the description (other than, in my opinion, it being "restaurant style rotisserie") and was very tender and moist. The taste wasn't impressive, as I thought it was going to be based on some of the previous reviews. Don't get me wrong, it was good... Just didn't "wow" me.

Slow Cook Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2005
We really enjoyed this dish. I made it as written and thought it was perfect. The sauce wasn't too thick, wasn't too peanut-buttery (I used Skippy's reduced fat creamy PB), and it just had a hint of spice. I served it on top of steamed rice. As for some of the comments that it looked unappealing, I thought it looked fine... Chicken with a brown sauce (because of the pb)... in addition to the taste, the red bell peppers and cilantro is nice for presentation. I will definitely make this again!

Cranberry Sauce I

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
YUM! This was my first attempt making cranberry sauce and absolutely loved this recipe. It was so easy, and so delicious. I mashed the berries with a (potato) masher for a jellied consistency and appearance. Thanks!

Corn Souffle

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2005
This was good but not as spectacular as I was hoping, based on the previous reviews. It was a nice side dish in addition to our Thanksgiving dinner.
