Catherine's Spicy Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2007
Very good. I made the following modifications. Used turkey stock from Christmas turkey instead of boiling chicken in bouillon. Reduced amount of chicken to 4 breasts, diced, and sauteed in herbs. Replaced one of the cans of chili beans with a can of black beans. Used frozen rather than canned corn. Cooked it in my slow cooker all day long. It smelled fabulous and everyone who had some seemed to like it. Thanks!

Italian Sausage Soup with Tortellini

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
My entire family loved this! The only mistake I made...and I'm not going to dock a rating for my error...I used too much sausage by incorrectly reading the recipe. Flavors were outstanding and if I hadn't fouled up I know it wouldn't have been greasy but divine. Can't wait to make it again....correctly!

Annie's Fruit Salsa and Cinnamon Chips

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2007
I thought this was extremely sweet but was a nice change up for a bring-a-snack party. It seemed to get lots of compliments but I brought a LOT home. That combined with my lack of "Wow" over it puts it in the 3 star category for me. I will keep the recipe and make again, for sure. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Very good stuffing. Some family members weren't crazy about the sausage but most of us really liked it. Thanks!

Broccoli Cheese Soup V

I made this for a women's retreat. It was a hit! Everyone talked about how delicious it was. Served it with chicken salad on a croissaint. Perfect! Thanks for sharing.

Chocolate Mint Cookies I

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2006
Everyone loved these. Made them exactly as written. Apparently my cookies were smaller than the submitters cookies because I got 7 dozen. At that size, 1/2 mint is plenty! I found there was no need for mint extract in the dough. I did find that it was necessary to cover it to chill. Otherwise it dried out and wouldn't roll well. Thanks!

Gourmet Sweet Potato Classic

My sweet potatoes seemed dry. Not as creamy smooth as I would have hoped. Everyone loved the topping, though!

Slow Cooker Ham

Reviewed: Dec. 9, 2006
Fair. If someone gave me a ham I would probably prepare it this way again. However, I won't go drop the money on one just for this. For some reason we just weren't as impressed as the reviews led me to believe we'd be. :-(

Amber's Sesame Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2006
Chicken had a good flavor but no sauce for the rice. I'm not sure to what exponent I would have to make sauce in order to suit my family. We liked it except for that, though. Thanks!

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
Kids and husband really liked this one. I thought it was pretty good for what it was...a kid friendly change of pace. Next time will probably spice up a bit more and add some black beans, green onions, etc. Thanks!

Anchovy Linguine

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2006
My husband loves anchovies so I prepared this especially for him. He gave it a "so-so" rating. He said it was a good starting point to dress more to his tastes. Thanks.

I may try and make this again but it would be with quite a few revisions and I just haven't figured out what they are, yet. My daughter really liked it but the rest of us didn't. Thanks, anyway.

Jimmy Carter Dessert

Reviewed: Oct. 11, 2005
Not bad. I think it needed more pudding. I'll make it again because it was so simple, different, and most of my family enjoyed it. Thanks for something new. I do love Jimmy Carter more than this dessert, though. :)
