Snow Flakes

Delicious! We've had a semi-hard time getting them to release easily from the press but the flavor is so good. I did use other recommendations on 1/2 butter and 1/2 shortening. I also had no orange to zest so I used orange flavoring. It's fine but I know the zest would have made them even better and brighter! Will add to my box and use this as my go to Spritz recipe. Thanks!

Pizza Dough I

Lentil Soup with Lemon

Delicious! The only change I made was sauteing the carrot w/ the onion. I like the little extra depth of flavor. Don't skip the olive oil. It's sooooooo good and good for you!

Great-Grandmother Steinbeck's Johnnycake (Cornbread)

Just what I was looking for. Changes made: whole wheat flour, yellow corn meal, and milk soured with lemon juice since I had no buttermilk, cooked in iron skillet. Great texture and good flavor. Thanks.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Very good and very easy. I cut up 3 chicken breasts and sauteed them in the oil with the garlic. I also doubled the recipe and used 1 red pepper and 1 orange pepper. The sauce was very tasty but a little thinner than I had hoped. I think next time I will cut back on the water. I had no issues needing salt. In fact, next time I will use low sodium soy sauce since I've noticed my fingers are swelling slightly. I will also grate a little ginger in with the cabbage, add some green onion and maybe some shredded carrots, mushrooms, and water chestnuts. I think broccoli would be too strong a flavor to add.

Refried Beans Without the Refry

Super! Also a great, meatless bean recipe to serve with rice or cornbread if you don't cook them quite so long and don't mash them. We loved the flavor and I loved the healthiness of them! I made no changes. Great as is! Thanks!

Mexican Rice III

I thought this was really good but no one else in my family was that excited by it. My kids could take it or leave it. My husband didn't like it at all. The only change I made was to use brown rice since that is all we have in our pantry. Thanks!

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Very, very good. My only concern was the amount of butter/oil on top of each bowl. Next time I will cut the butter in half and see if it ruins the flavor or if it's fine with less. Next time I will also use a little more sherry and a little less thyme. My husband loves french onion soup in restaurants and he gave this one a thumbs up with 4 stars. Thanks! I'll be making this regularly on cold, sleety days like today.

Anthony's Lime Chicken with Pasta

Nice flavor in my opinion. My kids seemed to like it, also. My husband did not like it much. I didn't bread the chicken for fear of sogginess. I felt that there was too much butter/oil. I think if I make it again I will cut WAY back...especially if I'm not breading anything. I liked the lime flavor. I squeezed the juice of 1 lime in and cooked the other lime in the sauce as written. That part turned out just right. I also liked the pasta preparation prior to putting the sauce on. I will remember that every time I serve pasta...not just with this dish. Added a very good layer of flavor and texture. Thanks for a great start...I will probably play with this and get it closer to my own family's tastes.

Refrigerator Bran Muffins

I gave this 5 stars because I have made it exactly as written and they were very good. However, in trying to make them a bit healthier I made the following changes with a 3 star result: Used whole wheat flour, used splenda instead of sugar, used applesauce instead of oil. The taste is still good but they did not rise like I wanted. All in all, very good, though. Thanks.

Tuna Noodle Casserole from Scratch

Not bad. I like that it is all fresh ingredients rather than canned soups. My husband can't stand warm tuna so I won't make this on a regular basis but my kids seemed to really enjoy it so I'll keep it in mind for nights that hubby is away. The only change I made was I used whole wheat noodles. Thanks for an easy recipe for a nice, quick, fairly healthy dinner option!

Slow Cooker Chicken Stew

Good, not great, at our house. Everyone at it but no one loved it. May make it again just for a change of pace. However, this review is based on the following changes: used cream of mushroom and brown gravy packet. So the 3 star rating is on my version. If I make again I will try as written since it gets so many great reviews. Thanks.

Simple Taco Soup

Very good. So good my daughter is taking leftovers in her thermos today. That doesn't happen often! Modifications made were only that I used 1 lb ground turkey rather than 2 lb ground beef. I did not add the can of green chilis. I added 1 can of beans with jalapenos. Thanks!

Deer Jerky

Excellent and simple! Modifications: I was out of onion salt so I used minced onion instead and skipped the additional salt since there is so much in the sauce anyway. Also, used a dehydrator rather than the oven. Very, very good flavor. Better than any I've purchased anywhere. My son is THRILLED with how we jerkied his first deer! Thanks!

World's Best Lasagna

Excellent. Modifications I made were as follows: I did not add the 1/2 c water to the sauce. I substituted ground turkey for the ground beef. I cut the salt in half. I used no boil lasagna noodles. I was very pleased with the results. Not watery at all and very tasty. I would consider it very simple to make, also, since all I had to serve with it was a salad and french bread. Not so quick but certainly easy! Thanks!
