New Orleans Stew with Smoked Andouille Chicken Sausage

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2014
This was very good. Family loved it. We like spicy foods and I even added a bit more cayenne than the recipe called for. I followed the recipe as written with the substitution of white potatoes in lieu of sweet potatoes (didn't have any on hand). Hubby thought sauce was a little thin so he made a pot of rice and we served it over rice. Sorta has a gumbo feel with a different flavor. Great recipe......it's a keeper! Thanks for sharing.

Have made this twice now. Once for the family and then for my book club . It was a hit both times. Very easy to make and it makes a great presentation. This will be a regular in our household. Thanks for sharing!

Boudreaux's Zydeco Stomp Gumbo

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2013
I had been using the same gumbo recipe for over 20 years when I came across this recipe. I decided to make it based solely on the number of positive reviews it has received. Well it is now my new gumbo recipe. This was wonderful.....the taste is outstanding. It does require a bit of prep time. After reading many of the reviews I decided to stay with the amount of broth in the recipe. So glad I did. Many stated it was runny, but luckily I didn't encounter that issue. Most likely because I increased the amount of both meats and the shrimp. We are serious carnivores! And since my sweetie was born and raised in Louisiana I had to add okra and 2 tablespoons of file ( can't imagine making gumbo without it). Since the file also acts as a thickening agent the consistency was perfect. I also didn't encounter the issue others mentioned of it being oily. The roux came out a beautiful brown color. I used a can of Stella Artois beer, and Slap Your Mama Cajun seasoning. I did not use the total amount of seasoning, simply because the broth, meat and sausage also added flavor. I believe it would have been too salty. The man from Louisiana said it was one of the best gumbo's he has ever had! Thank you for sharing!

Blackened Shrimp Stroganoff

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2013
This one is a keeper. Followed the other reviewers suggestions and substituted half of the chicken broth for white wine. I also couldn't find the roasted red peppers but I wanted the color and used sun dried tomatoes instead. I did have hubby stop at the store on his way home and pick up a jar of capers. The others reviewers were correct......the capers are a must! Yummy.....everyone loved it. Hubby was bummed their weren't any leftovers to take for his lunch the next day. I doubled the recipe, guess I'll have to triple it the next time. Thanks for sharing!

Bacon-Roasted Chicken with Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2013
Outstanding!! Hubby, son and daughter loved it! We didn't have the chives, and since we're not big fans anyway, don't think they were missed. The blend of spices were on point, and the potatoes were delicious. This has made the family top ten list! Try it you won't regret it!

Chicken With Mushrooms

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
Pretty Tasty Dish! Most of the family liked this, my issue was that the bottom of the chicken was soggy. Not sure if I will make again, if I do I would definitely saute the mushrooms prior to putting in the oven, and add a bit more spice to get it a kick.

Soy Sauce Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
My family loved this dish. I followed the suggestions of other reviewers and added an additional cup of water, used 1/2 cup sugar and added green onions to the stock while it was cooking and also sprinkled green onions on the finished dish. Used the conversion for portion size on the site as the original recipe would have been way too much for a family of four. Luckily I had a fresh ginger root!! I was a wee bit nervous with using the amount the recipe called for but oh so glad I did! This one will be in the rotation for years to come. Try it you won't regret it!
