No Bake Cheesecake I

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2009
I tried this recipe because of all the great reviews and how easy it is to make compared to making a traditional cheesecake. Boy was I wrong. This does not have the consistency of cheesecake at all. My husband didnt even recognize it as a cheesecake. So I guess what I am meaning to say is if you are like me who loves cheesecake, you might want to think twice about this one. I just wasted 2 perfectly good packages of cream cheese making this recipe. Maybe this is good for a no bake cheesecake, but now I know what a no bake cheesecake taste like, i will never make it again!

Amazing Sun-Dried Tomato Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Love this recipe! Yummy but oh so simple! One thing I do differently is to chop the tomatoes small/thin and sautee it until tender with some olive oil so its not so rubbery when you eat it. Doing this also infuses the sun dried tomato flavor in the sauce. I like to make this with sun dried tomatoes that are just DRY not in olive oil. The tomatoes packaged in olive oil give a different taste to it that I am not a very big fan of. Kind of makes it taste fishy? I guess thats the best was to describe it. But anyways great recipe! I serve this with grilled chicken and pasta cooked al dente! Yummy... :)

Javi's Really Real Mexican Ceviche

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Now this is an authentic recipe! I love that you mixed the serrano and the jalapeno peppers together, it makes it much more interesting. :) My mexican husband gives this the thumbs up! Really yummy served with cold Coronas and tapatio on top! :D

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
This is the best pancake recipe I have ever tried! Great ratio of ingredients. Youre grandmother is awesome and you are awesome for sharing this recipe to us. :) My husband loves pancakes so this recipe is defitely going to be used again and again here at home. One thing that I think is CRUCIAL to making these is to make sure your ingredients are room temp. This makes for fluffy and tender pancakes. Thanks again!

Chicken Spaghetti III

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
I was looking for a recipe that had cream of mushroom since I had some on hand and chicken and pasta and decided to try this. Well this is another of the recipes I MUST disagree with the majority. I made this as written and it was not good! I dont usually use the cream of anything soups but had some on hand from another recipe I tried that needed it and this was an extra can I bought just in case. I cant believe this is getting 5 stars! Even my husband who eats everything could hardly eat this. Sorry I needed to say it just in case there is someone out there who is thinking of trying it to think twice. Think processed cheese? Cream of whatever, for pasta? I shouldve known better.

Taqueria Style Tacos - Carne Asada

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
This is average at best. I live in los angeles, and here you have taqueria style tacos scattared all over the city. This does not compare to any of them. One tip though is to use mexican oregano, or fresh oregano if you have it on hand. I even did the ultimate test, feed my mexican husband and his brothers this steak and all of them said the same thing. I really really wanted to love this because I love carne asada so much, but it fell flat. Maybe to those who have never really tasted good carne asada this will be 5 stars but to those who have tasted the real thing, it does not compare. I think it has a lot to do with the soy sauce. Soy sauce is an Asian seasoning. It is never found in authentic mexican cooking.

Minnesota's Favorite Cookie

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2009
Although it was a very good cookie, I thought it had too much stuff in it. I wouldve liked it better with just the toffee, semi sweet chocolate chips and nuts. the addition of milk chocolate to me makes it too sweet for my liking. I do agree with other reviewers this tastes great for a day or two, after that the cookie gets crumbly and dry

Pasta Isabarte

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
I did this recipe when I first joined all recipes, I just never got around to reviewing it. I was craving something with egg on it and stumbled upon this recipe. Did it, ate it, and thought that this recipe is great. I wouldve never thought of putting eggs on my pastas EVER before this. Thats the only thing that makes this different really. I just read some reviews saying they didnt get what was so different. Well thats it-- egg! It was well received by my family, even by my mom. The only difference I did was, instead of using a jar of sauce, I used half of tomato sauce or spaghetti sauce and half beef stock. Maybe more tomato sauce. I wanted the liquids to be absorbed by the pasta while it was baking and I thought that by making half of it liquid it will do the trick-- And it did! Yey! The beef stock also adds more flavor, which is missing with the lack of beef/sausage/pork in this dish. Oh and I also used 3 cheese blend and mozerella cheese for more flavor and penne pasta instead of ziti to hold the sauce more on the pasta(because of the ridges). Thanks for the recipe :)

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
I Love this recipe!!! The sauce is spectacular! The only difference I made is make the filling All Sausage! YES!!! Sausage galore in my lasagna and it was wonderful! I find that the ground beef takes away from the wonderful sausage taste so I omitted it and just added more sausage :) Maybe next time Ill make two sauces one with sausage and one with ground beef and put one layer with sausage and one with ground beef! I am such a fatty LOL!!! :D

Cinnamon Bread I

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
This bread was very good! I stuck with the original recipe and it was great! It is a well-balanced recipe--no need changing. I did out of curiosity try it as suggested, doubling the topping, and it DID NOT taste very good. The cinnamon became WAY too powerful almost to the point of bitter because of the excess cinnamon. So with this recipe, DO follow it to the T. THe only change I made is by adding walnuts into it and the method of mixing. I mix all dry first and then mix the liquids just until MOISTENED. This will make the texture more "bready" and make it nice and soft as well. Maybe thats why some reviewers bread turned out dry. Try not over mixing it. It should do the trick. If you find it in the bland side, you just probably like things jazzed up. In that case, go ahead and add raisins or something to it. This is a Cinnamon Bread recipe, I dont understand why some people making this are expecting it to be anything more.

Korean BBQ Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
As is a 3. to make it authentic as other reviewers have said it needs to have garlic, green onion and sesame. Add those and you get a 4. I think that the water dilutes the flavors too much and it needs more ginger maybe? I have to do some tweeking to the actual recipe to get this up 5 stars. As is, good base to work with for a korean bbq marinade

Best Tuna Melt (New Jersey Diner Style)

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Errr, I hate to give it 3 stars but thats how it was received in my house. My husband is a HUGE tuna melt fan so I decided to try another recipe other than mine, because frankly my tuna melts are average, and this fell to that category. Im rating the tuna in the sandwich which is the biggest part of the whole thing.

Light Oat Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
This was my first experience making bread with yeast that turned out amazing! I couldnt believe I used regular all purpose flour for this! The oats really do the trick. Wonderful soft chewy yummy texture on the inside, wonderful tender crust on the outside. Next time Im going to make it shaped like a baguette and brushed it with egg and see what happens. That fresh bread smell is addicting! I cant wait to make it again! Oh and my husband who was totally hesitant about eating sandwich bread I made has totally turned around after he ate this. Actually this bread was gone in two days! He ate like 3/4 of it lol!!! thank you for a wonderful recipe :)

Marinated Grilled Shrimp

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Wow is there something wrong with me? everyones rating is 5 stars and here I am rating it at 3.... :( Sorry but for 4-5 stars it should be excellent-amazing and this just didnt do it for me and my family. It is Average, nothing amazing. I need to tweak it to be amazing and thats what reviewers did. I am rating this by the recipe on the site, not including the suggestions in the reviews because if I did that, I wouldnt be rating the recipe.

Banana Sour Cream Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2009
Yum-O! Best banana bread, hands down! It tastes exactly like the bread they serve warm at Mimis restaurants. The sour cream and the amount of bananas in this recipe makes it so moist and Banana-ey. I did do Saras suggestions with the topping. Super duper wonderful recipe, thank you for sharing! :)
