Slow Cooker Lentil and Ham Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 23, 2012
Added a can of diced tomatoes to it as suggested in other reviews. Also ended up using an entire 8 oz can of tomato sauce instead of 8 tsps. Next time I would add a bit more black pepper and probably some cayenne to give it some spice. Very good!

Best Black Beans

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
Very good! I substituted celery for the onion, added a red bell pepper and a jalapeno. Also added a splash of lime juice and a bit of chili powder. Served over brown rice with a chicken thigh.

These come out great every single time! I used OJ instead of water.

Rob's Screaming Stuffed Jalapeno Peppers

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2011
Added a bit of garlic powder and hot chili powder to the cream cheese. Based on other reviews I used a whole slice of bacon per pepper half but I think that's overkill.

Pretty Picnic Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2010
Too much oil in this recipe and not enough spices. I would definitely add some dijon mustard and other spices.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2010
Very good! I followed all of K. Lynn's suggestions and threw in some chopped walnuts and semi-sweet chocolate chips. Yummy! It made 12 regular sized muffins.

Roasted Pepper Tart

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2010
This was absolutely faaaantastic! I did make quite a few changes though to kind of combine two recipes I saw on Allrecipes. I only used two of each pepper because red peppers are expensive. I would guess I only used about 2 tbsp of oil and probably less than two cups of cheese. I left out the olives and spread down some premade pesto as the "sauce" for the tart before putting on the peppers. So delicious!!! Next time I'd probably use premade pizza crust or pie crust to cut down on the time it takes to make it.

Camp David Spaghetti with Italian Sausage

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
I wasn't too crazy about this dish, but my boyfriend loved it. It was all meat and not near enough sauce. Once I added in some canned spaghetti sauce it was a nice mix.

Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 24, 2010
Very good! I left out the onion. Per other reviews, I pounded the chicken breasts down a bit. Next time I think I'd do it even more.

Double Tomato Bruschetta

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2010
The grocery store was out of fresh basil so I had to use dried- still very good. Definitely use french bread and not Italian or it will become mushy.

Stuffed Peppers with Turkey and Vegetables

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2010
Use venison instead of turkey. Not too impressed; it was pretty bland and the peppers weren't cooked enough.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
I made 12 smaller sized muffins. Even with that, I wouldn't use the full amount of topping next time.

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: May 3, 2010
Very good! We used the full amount of mushrooms and didn't have a problem with them. Also added a couple of chopped up slices of prosciutto.

Spinach Stuffed Chicken Breast

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2010
As per previous reviews, I cut down the amount of spinach to 6oz. This made the sour cream way to overpowering. I think if I did it again, I'd cut that down by half. Not too impressed.

Baked Lemon Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
This was excellent! I left out the extra salt because the seasoned bread crumbs already has plenty. Next time I wouldn't drizzle the remaining sauce mixture on top because it made it less crispy. I only used about 1/4 c of bread crumbs to get it evenly coated.

Emerald Green Risotto

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2010
Left out the broccoli because my boyfriend doesn't like it. This was very good and had a great creaminess to it. This would be a great recipe to experiment with different vegetables. I would try to cut down on the sodium by choosing low-sodium broth next time.

Grilled Marinated Shrimp

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2010
This recipe was very good! I rated it four stars because I felt it could have used a bit more spice. I'd add more hot sauce next time. Because I didn't have access to a grill during the winter, I broiled the shrimp for three minutes on each side.

Marie's Easy Slow Cooker Pot Roast

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
Excellent!! I used red potatoes and shallots instead of onions. I bought a 1.75lb roast and that was a good fit for the crock pot I used. I think you'd have to have an industrial size pot to do a 4lb roast. Still did 8 hours and it was fantastic!

Apple Cranberry Stuffed Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
Took 35 minutes at 350 to reach temperature of 160 degrees. They weren't especially tough like other reviews said. However, I didn't think the stuffing was that good. Next time I think I'll just add dried cranberries to a normal stuffing recipe.
