About this Cook
I am a (mostly) self-taught cook and baker originally from South Texas. I now live in Denver and love everything about Colorado! I have one dog, one cat, and one sweet boyfriend.
My favorite things to cook
Soups, Desserts and Cookies, Vegetarian Dishes, BBQ, Breakfast (I make a mean breakfast!)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Every Sunday we gather at my grandmother's house for dinner, where we all gather at her kitchen table and there is a joyous mixture of singing, banging pans, utensils doing their jobs, laughter, gossip, and wine. We never leave without having a wonderful homemade dessert.
My cooking triumphs
Learning how to use spices to create healthy meals, converting old southern (unhealthy) recipes into healthier options, learning to bake at high altitude.
My cooking tragedies
High altitude baking is difficult and I have ruined many-a-pan of brownies.

Roasted Pumpkin Seeds
These are really very good. I carved my pumpkin, sorted the seeds, rinsed them and dried them for about an hour (I am in a dry climate). Used more salt + garlic salt and flipped over halfway through cooking. Straight out of the oven these were delicious. :) Thanks for sharing!

Chuck's Favorite Mac and Cheese
This is one of my favorite recipes of all time. The only modification that I make is to add a bit more sour cream, use very high quality white cheddar cheese and parm, and bake it a bit shorter since I am in a dry climate at high altitude. This recipe is a favorite of every person I make it for.

Raspberry Trifle
This is incredibly good as is. I have done minor things to change this a few times I have made it and it was really good...such as different berries, orange marmalade on the pound cake, etc. Delicious!
