Chicken Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2010
The chicken in this recipe rocks! I love it! I only let it sit in the bag about 20 minutes and it tasted fine. The ratios of ginger and garlic is perfect, but I did double the amounts (from another reviewer's suggestion) and I'm glad I did. I also added brown sugar to the soy sauce as the same reviewer said and it really made a big difference. My new favorite stir fry recipe--thanks Lori (and camgo)!

Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
I have searched for a great tasting corn bread recipe and this is it! That said, I did not follow the directions for preparing. I followed the simple muffin method. Mix all dry ingredients together in one bowl. Mix wet ingredients in another (make sure buttermilk and eggs are not straight-out-of-the fridge cold or the butter will get grainy. I mix the buttermilk and eggs together in a 2-cup measuring cup then microwave for 20 seconds just to take the chill off). Add wet ingredients to dry and mix JUST UNTIL BLENDED. Do not overmix! I baked this at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Yum!

Simple Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2010
This was really good. I added green pepper with the onion. Also added corn at the end. Left out the beans because no one likes them. Added 1 cup of cooked elbow macaroni instead. The spices needed some serious adjusting for our tastes. Read the reviews about being too watery. Just let the chili simmer awhile uncovered until it is to your preferred thickness. Definitely a keeper! Served with Grandmother's Buttermilk Corn Bread.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
This one never fails to please at our family gatherings. Friends and family who have never had it wonder what the crust is--nuts? No, pretzels! The combinations of sweet, salty and creamy make this dessert fun to eat.

A Plus Fair Corn Dogs

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
YUMMY! The only sub I've made is the bacon drippings. I use it when I have it, and use melted margarine when I don't.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2010
I've been making this for some time now. It's a very good recipe as is. To those who think it's too runny the next day, try mixing it up again to redistribute the dressing. Also, keep in mind that not all dressings are thick. The buttermilk gives it a nice tang along with the vinegar (I like rice wine vinegar--mild) and the lemon juice (which really brightens the flavor). All in all, my favorite cole slaw recipe. Thanks, Marsha!

This is a good solid dish. I make it often because I always have the ingredients on hand.

Absolute Stress

Very good. Peach Schnapps flavor strong at first, but then started to go down easy. Used Ketel One Citron Vodka and Capt Morgan Rum. Can't wait to try this one on my friends!
