Grandmother's Buttermilk Cornbread
I have searched for a great tasting corn bread recipe and this is it! That said, I did not follow the directions for preparing. I followed the simple muffin method. Mix all dry ingredients together in one bowl. Mix wet ingredients in another (make sure buttermilk and eggs are not straight-out-of-the fridge cold or the butter will get grainy. I mix the buttermilk and eggs together in a 2-cup measuring cup then microwave for 20 seconds just to take the chill off). Add wet ingredients to dry and mix JUST UNTIL BLENDED. Do not overmix! I baked this at 400 degrees for 25 minutes. Yum!

Simple Turkey Chili
This was really good. I added green pepper with the onion. Also added corn at the end. Left out the beans because no one likes them. Added 1 cup of cooked elbow macaroni instead. The spices needed some serious adjusting for our tastes. Read the reviews about being too watery. Just let the chili simmer awhile uncovered until it is to your preferred thickness. Definitely a keeper! Served with Grandmother's Buttermilk Corn Bread.

Strawberry Pretzel Salad
This one never fails to please at our family gatherings. Friends and family who have never had it wonder what the crust is--nuts? No, pretzels! The combinations of sweet, salty and creamy make this dessert fun to eat.
