About this Cook
I have five grown children and have loved cooking and baking all my life. My favorite thing is to feed someone and have them love it! I especially love making goodies. Currently I am experimenting with wheat free recipes. Someday my husband and I hope to open a coffee roasting business with a coffee shop and bakery! I also love books and would love our place to be relaxing and comfortable and a place to hang out and enjoy life!
My favorite things to cook
Pies, cakes, scones, cookies, candies. Mexican and family heirloom recipes. Vegetarian meals, healthy vegetables. Homemade jams and jellies.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Texas recipes from my grandmother. My mothers recipes she has handed down to me. My goal is to create a family scrapbook to pass on to my daughters that include all the recipes that they grew up with and that I currently am using for family and friends.
My cooking triumphs
Pumpkin cheesecake! Texas chocolate cake! Pumpkin chocolate chip cookies! Texas Hash! Chili Relleno Casserole! Fig jam! Homemade Vegetarian Tamales!
My cooking tragedies
Using self rising flour for pie crust!! Never again, too salty with baking soda already added!! I bought it by mistake. Threw the rest of it away!!

Gluten Free Banana Bread
I made muffins from this recipe and used one cup of oat flour along with one cup of all purpose gluten free flour. I also added 3 tablespoons of flaxseed meal and 1/2 cup of pecans. They needed to bake 45 or 50 min. at 325 to be completely done without getting dry. Delicious!!
