About this Cook
Love to cook for others especially my best friend who can't boil an egg! My husband is not too fond of a woman our age waiting for someone else to cook, but I love it! (Plz don't tell him).
My favorite things to cook
Anything in the slow cooker. And now they make the plastic bags to go inside the pot. WATCH OUT!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I cherish the holidays because I still help my grandmother cook. It brings back childhood memories. We cook and listen to the same nostalgic music from 30+ years ago. I cherish her and this tradition.
My cooking triumphs
After 36 years, I decided to host Thanksgiving dinner. My first crack at the bird was a huge hit thanks to the recipe from this website (Michigander Turkey).
My cooking tragedies
I tried to make seafood gumbo when I was 19. In a nutshell, the color of the liquid is suppose to be brown; however mine was green! Don't know where I went wrong and to this day, my family is still wondering as well.

Asparagus Parmesan
I too followed the advice of others and added garlic and onions. This was a hit. Thanks JenElaine.

Easy Baked Tilapia
For white fish, I was always under the foolish impression that it was boring/bland & therefore needed a breaded topping, cream sauce, etc. Wow! I was dead wrong. This recipe was filling and flavorful. In addition, I added Cajun seasoning to give it a kick. Sometimes less is good and in this case, less is GREAT!

Spicy Bok Choy in Garlic Sauce
This was a hit! Since bok choy wilts upon cooking (like other leafy greens), I will purchase 2lbs next time & double the sauce. I used baby bok choy & my family of 3 was fighting over the veggies because 1lb wasn't enough. I omitted the oyster sauce since I didn't have it on hand. As others have stated, the sauce was awesome. Nice combination of flavors.
