Cranberry Orange Loaf

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2006
Everything about this recipe was perfect; it was moist, had the right amount of sweetness and flavor, etc. The only thing that I will do for next time is to chop the cranberries into small pieces. The bitterness was a little overpowering with whole berries.

Glorious Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 25, 2006
I love this recipe. The only change I made was to use lemon juice instead of lemon extract and I cooked it for about 45 minutes. I drizzeled the cake with a simple lemon icing and served it with vanilla ice cream (although I don't think the ice cream was necessary). The flavor and the texture are nice and light and are perfect for a summer dessert.

Brown Sugar Banana Nut Bread I

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2006
This recipe made delicious bread. The only thing I changed was reducing the sugar to 1/2 cup, but thats just because my family doesn't really have a big sweet tooth.

Angel Food Cake III

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
We had a party yesterday and everyone was fighting over this cake. I used regular flour and it turned out fine. I also cut down on the sugar to 1 cup (I'm not a huge fan of super sweet desserts) and I also added 1/2 tsp almond extract for a very nice, yet subtle flavor. This tastes fantastic with fresh strawberries and whipped cream.

Chocolate Cheesecake I

Reviewed: May 15, 2006
The taste was pretty good but I would have prefered a slightly more chocolatey taste. Also the cheesecake cracked very badly (I cooked it for the time that it called for) so I recommend that you follow the advice section and give it a water bath while its cooking. I was therefore forced to make a chocolate glaze to cover the crack and I think everyone agreed that the glaze made the cheesecake 10X better. Just melt 1 cup of chocolate chips, 3 tbs of butter, and 2 tbs cornsyrup over boiling water, and spread it over the cake.

Chocolate Chip Cookies V

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2006
These were pretty good but I found them a little salty. This probably was because I halved the recipe but kept the same amout of pudding mix. Other than that, they were really tasty.

Best Ever Pie Crust

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2005
I'm sorry but this was not the best pie crust I have tasted. I was really optimistic because of all of the other good reviews, but it was a little disappointing. First of all, there wasn't enough pie crust to make 2 pies (maybe is works if you use very small pie tins). Secondly it was way too salty. If I made this again I would take out the salt and double the recipe.

Chocolate Mint Layered Torte

Reviewed: Nov. 10, 2005
This is some of the best cake I've ever made! I can't even put it in words as to how delicious it was. I made it for my brother's 22nd Birthday and there was not a crumb to spare. I followed the recipe except for subtracting 1/2 cup of sugar (I figured it would be rich enough and wouldn't need to be overly sweet) and added about 1/4 cup of mayo to give the cake extra moisture.

Crazy Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 16, 2005
This wasn't a bad cake recipe but it wasn't the best. I divided the batter in half and cooked in 2 9-inch round pans for about 25 min. The texture was very nice, it came out moist and airy, and the presentation was very appealing. The problem was the taste. I found it to have a very floury flavor that might have caused a lot of disappointment if it weren't for the great frosting I put on it. It could have been because I decreased the sugar slightly but I'm not sure.

Mayonnaise Cookies

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2005
These were pretty good cookies. I tryed making them healthier by using light Mayonnaise, replacing half the sugar with Splenda, and replacing 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour with oat flour. Like one reviewer said, the dough is hard to work with. First it comes out very crumbly and then it turns very sticky making it a messy job to roll into balls. Secondly, if you are a cookie dough addict and you are using light mayo, hold off on eating it because it tastes nasty. And finally, really make sure you flatten the dough out well before baking because these cookies do not spread at all and they will burn on the bottom and be raw in the middle if you don't. Other than that they were very tasty.

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2005
Everyone thought I was weird when I told them I made pumpkin chocolate chip muffins ("what a bizarre combination" they told me). Yet strangely, they got eaten up in no time. The only tip I have to give is if you are using paper liners for your muffins, wait until they are completely cooled before eating them otherwise they stick to the liners and you lose half the muffin.

Mayonnaise Cake I

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
This was a decent cake. I had to improvise a little bit because I didn't have enough mayonnaise. I therefore added an egg to the batter resulting in a fairly satisfying result. I just wish I could find a recipe that is as light and fluffy as the Betty Crocker cake mixes.

Easy Biscuits

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
I'm sorry, but these were some of the worst biscuits I've ever eaten. The self-rising flour made them way to salty, they hardly rose after baking for 20 minutes, and they tasted of flour. I added a 1/4 cup sugar which helped a little bit but I had to throw out a lot of them (which is a rare occurrence in my household).

Mexican Rice III

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
I was a little disappointed in this recipe. I live in Tucson Arizona so I'm accustomed to great Mexican food. I felt that this recipe came out way to soggy and salty for my taste and it doesn't nearly measure up to my favorite local Mexican restaurant's version. It also didn't have any tomato taste to it which I like in my Mexican rice. I'll have to keep looking for a better recipe.

Chocolate Cheese Frosting

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2005
This frosting was so tasty. I made a few changes, because I wanted to make a chocolate snickerdoodle cake (plain chocolate cake in the middle with chocolate cinnamon frosting on the outside). I therefore added about 1 1/2 extra tsps of cinnamon. I also personally don't like super sweet frosting so I cut down on the sugar to about 3 cups and added 4 ounces of melted chocolate like the recipe suggested. The result is truly amazing.

Apple Walnut Bread

Reviewed: May 30, 2005
This was really great bread. The only complaint I have is the cooking time. Luckily I read the reviews before following this recipe and thanks to Nansters and Carolina, I cooked it for 40 minutes. Wendy must have a really cool oven because any longer and mine would have become hard and burned.

Chocolate Cupcakes

Reviewed: May 30, 2005
These were fantastic cupcakes! They were nice and light and yet they didn't have a wimpy flavor. The only thing I changed was using 1/2 Splenda, 1/2 sugar and reducing the amount of cupcakes. I had a hard enough time getting 24 out of my batch, I don't know how Iadan expects us to get 30.
