Tantalizingly Tangy Meatloaf

Reviewed: Sep. 4, 2005
I tripled this recipe, added 1/4 cup minced green peppers, 1/2 medium onion, omitted the garlic powder, and 1/4 cup evaporated milk, and it was GREAT! I made it the day before and I had to check on it in the middle of the night to keep my husband from sneaking and eating it before church! Everyone loved the sweet taste it had, and the milk made it more moist!

Peppermint Brittle

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
This is an excellent recipe. I used cooking wax to thin out the chocolate. Everyone loved this recipe. I made enough to give everyone for Christmas as part of their box of treats!

White Chocolate Covered Pretzels

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
Perfect. I used wax to thin out the chocolate and used white and dark chocolates. The wax makes the chocolate set up easily and it won't melt and stick together outside of the refrigerator. Just melt your chocolate and add shaved gulf wax (it melts faster shaved) and add until you reach a consistency you like.

Roast Turkey with Herbs

Reviewed: Apr. 2, 2007
This is the only recipe I will ever use again for turkey! It was the most succulent turkey our family has ever had and now I'm the official turkey baker!

Hashbrown Casserole

I had tried this at a friend's house and wanted the recipe. So I did an ingredient search and found this. It's exactly what I had and it is sooooo delicious. I could eat it until I popped!

Best Ever Popcorn Balls

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2007
Pretty good, I added 2 tsp vanilla, gave it a nice underflavor, but otherwise, it didn't have one. I made slightly smaller balls than most people and got 30 out of this recipe.

Baked Potato Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Excellent recipe, even when I omitted the onion and used garlic powder instead (I can't stand any type of onion in food) I also used paprika instead of hot sauce, worked just fine. Recipe should be doubled, because it gets eaten very very quickly!!

Ham with Honey and Brown Sugar Glaze

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This is a ham recipe my family has used for three generations. We actually use mustard with the brown sugar rather than honey, but either way is superb! We always do the maraschino cherries in the middle of the pineapple slices and it makes a beautiful presentation. This is just one of those recipes that is worth passing on!

No Bake Cookies V

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2008
This recipe has been a favorite in my family my whole entire life. The secrets include having all ingredients pre-measured, using 4 tbsp of butter and remember that you have to have your cocoa mixture at a rolling boil (that means that even though you are stirring the mix, it is STILL boiling rapidly. THEN, you start your timing -- we go 5 minutes) And we use creamy peanut butter, not chunky (not everyone likes nuts) dump the oats a cup at a time, sometimes you need 3 cups, sometimes 3.5 cups oats. Sometimes if the weather isn't the best, the cookies won't set up. They're a mess, but we eat them anyway, and have dubbed them "Mess Cookies" - the best!

Yeast Dumplings

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2008
This was EXACTLY what I was looking for. I cannot tell you how much I despise those flat long dumplings. I like the plump, dense ones and this recipe was perfect. I followed the directions as given and just threw the dumplings into my chicken and soup I had almost cooked. Finished cooking for about 10min with the dumplings, they rose to the top and it was beautiful! I will use this recipe for chicken and dumplings every time!

Southern Style Fried Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2009
Very very good. Our Sonny's BBQ used to have fried mushrooms, and they redid their restaurant and took them off the menu. We've been craving a great mushroom recipe and these hit the spot! I had to add some more water to get the batter just so, but that's of no consequence. Great receipe!!!

No Bake Cookies III

Reviewed: Jun. 17, 2009
These are a family favorite. We've been making them our whole lives. You don't have a family party without "Mess Cookies". The only problem is that the recipe has been a little muddled, passing verbally from one person to the next. No one could agree on the cooking times, so I started testing. The key to the no bake cookies is the boil time. You MUST have your mix at a hard boil (you stir and the boiling isn't reduced). Do not time before this point and only cook at a rolling boil for 1 minute. If you cook it at the wrong time, you will either get hard dry cookies or very gooey cookies that will NOT set up (thus our naming them Messy). This recipe has all the portions correctly. It is excellent :D

Spaghetti Pie III

Reviewed: Jul. 20, 2009
I didn't add the green peppers or onions as they're not things I like, but this recipe was excellent! My family really liked this as an alternative to spaghetti. I used rotini and made my own sauce. Wonderful combination with the cream cheese/sour cream!

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
My son and I made these together, only half as much because 6 dozen is a LOT! But these were phenomenal. Sent some to the neighbors, they could smell them baking. We gobbled them up and then made another half batch a few days later. I made my own brown sugar with white sugar and molasses (works wonderfully) and followed the recipe exactly. This will forever be my chocolate chip cookie recipe!

Bratwurst Stew

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2010
Excellent recipe, this has now been added to our recipe rotation! I added Yukon Gold potatoes to the mix, no celery, and only one can of beans. I used crushed rosemary and cayenne over thyme and basil to really bring out the flavor and the bratwurst were cooked just beforehand in a skillet, beer flavored. I cooked this longer than the recipe calls for, gives the flavors a lot more time to mix together and softens the carrots and potatoes nicely.
