Shrimp Lemon Pepper Linguini

Reviewed: Aug. 3, 2008
This is one of my favorite recipes on the site. I like to add crushed red pepper flakes and I usually don't have white wine on hand, so I use more chicken broth. Also, I prefer it without the lemon. I've never been disappointed with this dish.

Peach Coffee Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2008
This is really good. I needed to make something with my surplus of peaches and this seemed to be the best candidate. I've tried it with frozen and fresh peaches and I much prefer fresh, though frozen was good too. I didn't have pecans so I omit them and I double the streusel. Most recently, I used raspberries instead of peaches and sprinkled a little sugar on them when I put them in the batter. This was very good as well. Thanx for a great recipe!

Strawberry Glazed Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
This was great. I made my own crust and put a layer of cream cheese mixed with powdered sugar on the crust after I baked it. Delish!

Sesame Parmesan Zucchini

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2008
The sesame oil flavor was delicious. I didn't measure anything and I must admit that I'm a sucker for pan-fried zucchini, so after baking it for about 10 minutes or so, I dumped into a hot frying pan for a few minutes. I don't think this recipe will serve 4.

Molasses Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Jun. 22, 2008
MMMM... These are so yummy. I doubled the recipe and did half brown, half white sugar, one cup shortening, 1/2 cup butter. I upped the spices and decreased the baking soda. Baked for exactly 8 minutes and these were nice and chewy. BRAVO!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2008
This is so easy and so good. I have made the recipe as written, but to save time and dishes, I prefer to put the meat in the crockpot with the bbq sauce (no broth) and then shred it after a while. I leave it in until it's dinner time. No extra dishes!

Marinade for Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 14, 2008
This was awesome! This was my first attempt at making marinaded grilled chicken and I was very pleased with the result. I must confess that I didn't measure ingredients, I just kind of ball parked it and I added a bit of minced garlic. Also, I didn't have red wine vinegar so I used balsamic. I will definitely make this again.

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2008
These were pretty good. They definitely need salt. My husband and toddler liked them too. I'll make these again, but I might change up the spices a bit.

Aunt Anne's Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2008
This was a great easy coffee cake with staple ingredients. I like mine with more topping so I doubled it and put some brown sugar in with the white. Yum.

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2008
These were my first homemade pancakes and they were great. So much better than store bought. I followed the recipe exactly except I added a little vanilla. I will keep this recipe. Only, 8 servings probably means 8 pancakes, not servings enough for 8 people.

Cream of Tomato Soup

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2008
This is a great starter recipe. However, I do make some changes. First I don't use onion. I add quite a few spices according to taste. Cayenne, garlic powder, onion powder, basil, a bay leaf, and a few more depending on my mood. I let it simmer for about 15 or 20 minutes. After that I remove it from the heat and put in about 1/2 tsp or so of baking SODA (to get rid of acidity and to prevent milk from curdling). It gets really bubbly and orange. I stir it around until it settles down(about 2 minutes) Then I put in warmed milk. So much better than canned.

Irish Chicken and Dumplings

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2008
This recipe turned my husband into a Chicken and Dumpling lover. I've made this many a time and my favorite way to make it is with a pound of baby carrots, 3 (diced)potatoes, minced garlic and home made dumplings. Thank you CLAIRELLEN!

Slow-Cooker Barbecue Ribs

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
These are wonderful. I've made these as is and I've made them with changes and I've never been disappointed. If I'm in crunch for time, I'll just put them in the crock pot with my favorite BBQ sauce: sometimes bottled, sometimes homemade. Whatever is on hand. When they're done i put them in the broiler for a few minutes to give them a grilled taste. Excellent.

Hot Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2008
This was pretty good as is. I love the simplicity of ingredients. To make it a 5 star recipe in my book, I add cumin, curry powder, garlic powder, onion powder and ginger. I use it to serve over pasta with broccoli.

Chewy Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: May 24, 2008
The first time I made these I followed the recipe except I didn't have walnuts and I really liked these cookies. I made these again and I followed some reviewers suggestions to add flour and baking soda and use less salt. Again I don't have walnuts but these cookies turned out more like balls and were very floury and thick. I much preferred the original recipe.
