Lemon Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
Really fresh tasting for a spring lunch. I did make a few changes, though. It sounded like a lot of onion and my young son doesn't like it raw, so I omitted it. I used regular frozen green peas instead of snow peas. I also left out the lettuce and just served it with lettuce leaves on sandwiches.

German-Style Green Beans

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2009
I don't like green beans very much, but this gave them a really nice flavour.

Tartar Sauce IV

Reviewed: May 27, 2009
This is very easy to scale down. I used tangy dill pickle relish so I didn't have to chop pickles. I left out the onion and added a couple of twists of freshly ground pepper. Easy to make and tastes better than anything I've ever bought.

Easy Italian Stuffed Shells and Meatballs

Reviewed: May 3, 2009
Everyone really liked this. I couldn't find stuffed shells, so I bought ricotta-asparagus cannelloni. I also used fresh mushrooms (way more than the tin suggested). I think this has a lot of potential to be customized by adding chopped bell peppers, different cheeses, or even turkey meatballs depending on what you feel like.

Seven Layer Tortilla Pie

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2009
This smelled really good while it was cooking, but it didn't present well on the plates (probably due to the fact that the tortillas got rather soggy). My 3-year-old just looked at it and kept asking what it was. After my husband and I stopped laughing, we all went out for dinner.

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Mar. 20, 2009
I took the advice of others and only used half the package of soup mix and used milk instead of water. This was still way too salty and the beef was overcooked / tough.

Pepperoni Caesar Salad

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2009
I used a family-sized caesar salad kit and just added the tomato, avocado, and pepperoni (I forgot the eggs). This made a filling dinner served with garlic-cheese bread.

Grilled Pineapple Chicken Sandwiches

Nice flavours, but I think next time I'll put it in a wrap to make sure everything stays together.

SMUCKER'S® Stuffed French Toast

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2009
I used mascarpone instead of cream cheese and omitted the nuts (my son doesn't like them), but otherwise followed the recipe. This made a special breakfast seem almost decadent.

Old Fashioned Macaroni Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
Made it as written and we thought it was good. Then took the advice of other reviewers and replaced one can of tuna with 2 hard boiled eggs. We liked it better that way.

Philly Cheese Steak Pizza

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
I bought a flatbread for the crust and used leftover flank steak. This was really good.

Peanut Butter Banana Melties

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
Threw these on the BBQ when the burgers were done. Really nice end to a BBQ dinner. I used chunky peanut butter for mine and my son's, and smooth for my husband's (personal preferences). Make sure you add enough chocolate chips!

Avocado-Mango Salsa

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2008
I used a shallot instead of the onion. Really good with plain grilled swordfish, chicken, or pork chops. My two year-old ate the salsa and left the meat.

Buffalo Style Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
This was really good. I used low fat dressing - I agree with another reviewer - low fat dressing just doesn't cut it on this pizza. I used Tabasco mild jalapeno sauce to ensure everyone could enjoy it.

Red Skinned Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 18, 2008
My husband really liked this recipe. I made one small change - I used baby red potatoes and just halved or quartered them, depending on their size. I've never cooked a hard-boiled egg that like before that it worked great. Definitely a keeper.

Cucumber Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 4, 2008
I used pecans instead of walnuts. This was very good and extremely popular with my preschooler. Went well with BBQ sausages.

I took the advice of other reviewers and substituted mayo (aioli) for half the sour cream. I was skeptical, but everyone really enjoyed this.

Fruity Curry Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
A great twist! My young son doesn't like nuts, so I omitted them. I also used mild curry powder to ensure it wouldn't be too overpowering for him. The whole family gobbled this up.

Simple Southwestern Chicken Salad

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
A nice change from ordinary chicken salad. I didn't use whole package of seasoning since I thought it would be too salty and overpowering.
