Garbanzo Bean Chocolate Cake (Gluten Free!)

Reviewed: Mar. 3, 2009
I have made this twice now and love it. Make sure to really blend the beans finely otherwise the cake will be very grainy. Also make sure to allow the cake to cool before removing from the tin otherwise you will leave half of it behind. Really grease the tin well before adding the batter. Definately use dark chocolate for this.

Dilly Onion Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2008
For people who enjoy a savoury bread this made a really good loaf. I did end up adding a little more water after about 5 minutes in the bread machine. I like all the ingredients but may next time back off the dill a bit as I found it a bit too overpowering. This made a really good crusty loaf when set to Medium. Ideal and really yummy for toasted tomatoe sandwiches. Will be making this again for sure.

Restaurant-Style Coleslaw I

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
This is my favourite recipe for coleslaw. I always grate my own vegies rather than buying the store bought packet. The coleslaw always tastes better the next day but it does become watery.

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
Sensational. I have made these a few times now and they are always enjoyed. I do adjust the hot sauce to our taste. Popping them in the fridge is the key to this recipe.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
This was good but I don't think I will make it again. It ended up just like a lasange, I think I was expecting something a bit different.

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I followed others advise and only added 4 cups of flour. After the dough had risen, I then divided into two. One for sweet the other for savoury. For the savoury I chopped up jalepeno peppers and added this with grated parmesan to the dough. I also sprinkled extra parmesan on top before baking. These tasted wonderful. The sweet were coated with cinnamon and butter when they came out of the oven. I didn't find the dough buttery like the title suggests but they were still good.

Easy Morning Glory Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I followed this recipe exactly as written and the muffins turned out really yummy. I took these to a work morning meeting and had one person ask for the recipe. They were all eaten, so that's a good sign. Will make again.

Wake-Up Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
I needed to take something for a work morning meeting and this worked very well. I cooked the hash browns in the oven for 20 minutes first, to make sure they were crispy and would then not have to worry about them going soggy. Then I cooked up 4 sausages and cut them into 1" pieces. Once the hash browns were done, I tossed in the sausages on top, used bacon instead of ham, added chopped mushrooms, an extra egg and then completed the recipe as written. So a great base recipe that you can tweak easily to your tastes. I will definately be making this again, as it ideal for when you have a gathering. It also looked very presentable

Chili I

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
This has to be one of my favourite chilli recipes. Make sure to cut the meat small, to get a really tender chilli and let it simmer for as long as you can. I only use 2 cans of beans as I find that is enough.

Louisiana Crab Dip

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
This was good and very easy to make but I didn't heat it enough and I think it really needs to be hot to be enjoyed. I hollowed out a cob loaf of bread and filled it with the dip and then popped it into the oven wrapped in foil. I think I was too worried about drying out the bread, hence why I removed the dip before it was hot enough. Wasn't a huge hit but I think that was all my fault. I will try this again.

Bikini Martini

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Looked good but go easy on the grenadine as it only needs a couple of drops and if you give it a splash it will be too much and the last mouthful will be straight grenadine. Too sweet for my liking.

Grandma Ople's Apple Pie

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2007
Wow, this was so easy to make and was very tasy. One of my friends kept raving about it. I only had 4 apples though and in the end that was plenty for the size of the pie dish that I had. I will definately be making this again.

Chicken Avocado Pizza

Reviewed: May 13, 2007
Wonderful. We made this in our wood fired oven for a mothers day gathering. This was really delicious and well received by everyone. A great fresh taste. I gently sprinkled on the cayenne pepper, as I didn't want to make it too hot for my elderly mum. Will try a bit more next time for the big kids. Will definately be making this again. A great pizza. Please take a look at my photo's for this recipe.

Country Seed Bread

This was really great bread, I am definately making this again. I ground the flax (linseeds)so they digested easily and provided the anitoxidants, and then toasted them with the rest of the seeds. The consistancy was very good, very impressed. Thanks for the recipe Donna

Coconut Shrimp I

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2007
We really enjoyed this recipe. There wasn't any problems with mess etc. just clean up as you go. Make sure to watch the tempreature of the oil, so the prawns don't get too brown. Our dipping sauce was 3 tbs Orange Marmalade, 2 tbs Horseradish Cream and 1 tbs Dijon mustard I will be having guests over this weekend and will do this again, for sure.
