About this Cook
My favorite things to cook
I love to cook with chicken. i am still a little afraid of cooking with pork or seafood, but hope to move on soon. My husband is Filipino and he loves it when i make Chicken Adobo with fresh basil that I grow every year.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My family does not have a very rich cooking tradition. My mom made a lot of store bought spaghetti. and my grandmother never cooked because the smell of cooking made my grandfather sick because of his medical condition. So i am open to starting new traditions with my family!
My cooking triumphs
two layered Lemon cello cake with a lemon cookie crust. It took me 3 hours but it was worth it.
My cooking tragedies
a blueberry swirl cheesecake that leaked water when i was cooking it in a water bath. it tasted okay, but it looked like vomit. it was pretty sad

Cold Southwestern Bow Tie Pasta
The blend of spices makes sweet and sour in a bad way.

Flatlander Chili
I tried this recipe and it was very good. I did have to substitute and omit some of the ingredients because of a lack of supply at home though. i was unable to put the celery and green pepper in and instead of the tomato juice and tomato sauce I used a can of diced tomatoes and a tomato paste mixed with about a cup and 1/2 of water. I also added 2 fresh garlic cloves to the recipe. I don't know if you can call it the same recipe, but it did turn out great!

Black Beans and Rice
I really enjoyed this. i was really craving this meal for a while and it hit the spot. My husband thought it was a little boring though. I added more of the cayenne pepper.
