I came from a large family so cooking was taught at a young age, learned a lot of the basics of cooking and baking from my mother, who was an excellent cook and baker. I worked in a bakery for several years.I like to try new things. I have 3 beautiful grandaughters.
My favorite things to cook
I like to keep the old recipe, like my mother use to cook while growing up German cooking. I just love to bake pies,any kind. Sometimes I put together some weird combination and they actually are very tasty. I also have been told, that in New England that I makeup the best Carmel rolls and everybody would like my recipe.
My favorite family cooking traditions
German foods like cheese buttons, strudel, soups and of course the different kinds of food using dumplings, Try to keep those recipes going in our family and not lost
My cooking triumphs
One of my hardest things to make was the german strudel, your dough has to be just right to be able to stretch the dough. You have to knead the dough a lot and it has to be warm, so I thought why not use the bread machine to knead the dough, put the machine on the dough cycle, and it worked perfect dough, now to keep it warm, now this is where everybody figure I totally lost it, why not use the heating pad, put the dough in a bowl, cover it with plastic wrap, put a towel on the heating pan set the bowl on the towel and wrap it up, now my dough stays warm. And I have the best dough and I can stretch h it on my table with no problems, and everybody when I tell them how I do it they kinda look at me funny, but they sure enjoy eating the finished product.
My cooking tragedies
When we first got married , being the new bride and and all decided to make some chicken noodle soup, got the wrong kind of fine noodles, what a slimy mess I think we had hot dogs for dinner that nite. Trial and error,

Bread Pudding II
This is got to be the best, my husband always wanted bread pudding I personally hated bread pudding, so I made this recipe and it is heavenly, I have become a bread pudding lover along with my husband. Easy to make , I do however use heavy whipping cream. Thanks for this wonderful Bread Pudding Recipe. I used blueberries in stead of rasins. Oh so good
