I mostly learned to cook by watching my mom as I grew up, and she would often teach me how to make different meals. I also watch endless cooking shows, took "Home Economics" in high school, and love to try new recipes. My boyfriend and children love my cooking, and they are my favorite critics.
My favorite things to cook
Anything. If I have, or can obtain, the ingredients, I'll try making the recipe. I recently made a chocolate cheesecake for my oldest daughter's birthday and everyone just raved about it.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I like the fact that I am able to pass down to my daughters cooking experiences I had while watching my mom. For instance, I tried a recipe for "Christmas Eve Mice" some years ago and have been making them every Christmas since because everyone loves them, and felt truly blessed when my daughters wanted to make them this past Christmas. My children often like helping me cook.
My cooking triumphs
Surprising myself when I try a new recipe and it comes out delicious, and I love the "This is delicious!" comments from my family.
My cooking tragedies
I have a habit of accidentally burning myself sometimes when I cook. I can't really think of a major tragedy.
