Chicken Fried Steak I

Reviewed: Jun. 20, 2004
I made this dish last night (June 19) and OMG, everyone loved it. It was to die for. The first time I ever tried it was in Colorado and it was good but this was even better. Thanks Lots!

Chicken and Dumplings I

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2005
What a simple recipe for a cold night. My grandmother would make this favorite dish every Thursday for us but we called it "CHICKEN & SLIDE JACKS". She would add in onion when cooking the chicken and when cutting dough, she would stretch each piece then drop into broth to cook. All in all, this dish is a big hit with my family.

Southern Living Magazine's Chicken-Fried Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
ooooooooooooooh myyyyyyyyyyy gooooooosh, this recipe was totally amazing. My husband is from Kansas and I'm from Canada and for the longest time he's wanted me to make chicken fried steak so I did last weekend. He couldn't keep his hands out of the serving dish before we sat down and our guests were in heavan. I will definately make this recipe many times over. The only thing that went wrong was the gravy. From using the drippings, it turned out brown. The first time I ever tried chicken fried steak, it was served with a white gravy as in the picture so next time I make this I won't use the drippings from the pan. Other than that, it was totally awesome. Thanks!

Hawaiian Hot Dog Surprise

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
I thought I'd make this dish as a quick fix for our company on Saturday. It's not what I expected, thought it would be thick like a salsa so I thought the gang can scoop it with taco chips but when it was done I found it too juicy. The taste was great though so next time I will not add in the pineapple juice to see how it turns out. GOOD STUFF!

Deer Chop Hurry

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
I must say this is an awesome quick recipe that I've made many times already. I've never had venison before trying this recipe as a friend gave us some fresh venison meat so I had to do something with it. My husband loves it and the first time I tried it not knowing what to expect with the taste, wow it was amazing. Thanks for this recipe........ Cheers!

Sausage Gravy I

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2005
TOTALLY AWESOME! My husband calls this "Biscuits & Gravy", all that's added is tea biscuits. We also make hash browns and eggs with this meal. It's one of those comfort foods/meals especially in the winter. Yummy!

This recipe was a great success at our Thanksgiving dinner party yesterday. Everyone enjoyed them so much that I had to forward this recipe to 9 guests. This recipe is a keeper. Thanks!

Basic Yankee Bread Stuffing

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
Woohooooooo! Another great recipe keeper. We just had our Thanksgiving Dinner yesterday and this stuffing was awesome. I made it in a pan and placed it in the oven at 350 for 20 minutes as we deep fried the turkey. My husband was amazed. Thanks Kimberly!

Baked Alaska

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
This recipe was great but was a little confused when it came to preparing the cake. This recipe called for 1 egg along with the almond extract but if you prepare the cake mix by the directions on the box it calls for 3 eggs so I went by the box directions and it turned out really good. Everyone was amazed that the Baked Alaska didn't melt and was very tasty. We used orange/pineapple ice cream which was very yummy! Thanks

Bread Pudding II

WoW! Something so simple & tasting really good. I just made this and had to sample it when it came out of the oven (hot but yummy) and it's everything you would have in your pantry. I used to have this when I was a kid growing up and boy does it bring back some fond memories. I will definately make this again & again. Thanks!!

Spicy Cranberry Chutney

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
This recipe was awesome and was a hit at our Thanksgiving Dinner we had on Saturday. It was the first time I ever used fresh cranberries and won't be the last. The combination of apple, cranberry & ginger (along with the balance of ingredients) were well suited. I have already planned making this again to be included in my gift baskets to each of my family members.

We followed this recipe but wasn't too impressed with it. It sounded better than what it tasted. It was ok but not sure if I would make it again. Sorry

Shrimp Avocado Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
I'm not too sure what to say about this recipe. The first time I made it...wow, our mouths watered after each bite (we used elbow macaroni). The second time was for our big feast on Thanksgiving Day and used the penne pasta but it didn't taste the same as the first time where we used elbow macaroni. Perhaps it didn't turn out the same as we doubled the recipe...who knows. I will make this again but will stick with the elbow macaroni.

Sweet Potato Oranges

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
I tried this recipe last year for Thanksgiving but due to a mishap with the oven we weren't able to try them but I was told they were good. I did make them again at this years Thanksgiving and had to triple the recipe. I only used 1 1/2 cups of both sugars and they still came out pretty sweet but again tastey. So, I would cut back more on both the white sugar, brown sugar and also the number of eggs when tripling this recipe.

Creamy Deviled Eggs

OMG, this recipe was to die for and was a big hit at Thanksgiving. I made a batch of this recipe and a batch of the regular deviled eggs and guess which ones went first...next time I'm only making this recipe. 2 Thumbs Up!

Angie's Dad's Best Cabbage Coleslaw

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2007
This recipe is great but I have come to the conclussion to only use half a cabbage and not a full one. It makes lots and I have found out that not too many people like coleslaw and 2 people can only eat so much of it before turning into a cabbage. This is the second time making this recipe and have enjoyed it both times...will make again.

Festive Onions

Reviewed: Feb. 17, 2008
I've made this recipe twice and each time was a great hit. I followed the recipe to a "T" but added 2 more onions to it. The only thing I found that it isn't a good leftover addition to the next days meal. It just doesn't have the same flavour. This recipe is a huge keeper but will not keep leftovers.

Sweet and Sour Pork Patties

Reviewed: Mar. 10, 2008
Ok Gang! I had a package of ground pork that I had to use and stumbled upon this recipe. I didn't have bread crumbs so I tried crushed Triscuits (deli-style rye) and added cumin & garlic to the other ingredients. I also left out the sauce as I didn't have any in my pantry and didn't want to make it from scratch but "WoW"! This was very tastey which left a little tingle on the tongue for a short moment...MMMMMMMMMMMM! I'll make this again but next time I'll make into meatballs and try the sauce with it.

Cowboy Cookies III

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
YUM, YUM, YUMMY! These cookies were a huge hit with my family. My 14 yr old daughter picked the recipe and made them herself a few days ago and then made them again a few days later. I have never seen cookies go that quick in my home...WOW. I did add an extra half cup of chocolate chips to the ingredients but thats only because I have chocolate lovers here and were extra gooey. This recipe will take place of my own recipe for now on. Thanks so much for sharing it with all of us.

Banana Cream Pie III

Reviewed: Mar. 14, 2008
I made this very simple recipe at my girlfriend's cottage and the men loved it. It was a little messy cutting into it and the banana's did turn brown some but all in all, it was very tastey. As previous reviewers mentioned, I will try dipping the banana's in lemon juice before hand and will also try using a graham cracker crust too. This recipe is a keeper with a minor tune up...Thanks!
