Before making this recipe, I read several reviews. The ones that were negative, I thought initially, couldn't be right because all the others seemed so glowing. Well...not so fast.
I am not new to cooking and usually don't have any problem with recipes. I followed this one exactly - even using a flat edge to 'level off' the dry ingredients. I let the butter warm up to room temp. I creamed the butter with said ingredients. Yet, still these cookies were not "soft". While they weren't rock hard like other recipes I've made, these were not chewy or soft. Sure, they tasted very good, but so did the standard Tollhouse recipe, which is simple to follow.
Bottom line for me: I gave the cookies 3 out of 5 stars because they tasted good, but took off the 2 stars because they weren't soft. I'm still looking for a Soft Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe. This one, wasn't it. I would caution folks to make a half batch BEFORE delving into the 6 dozen!! If it works, great! If not, do you really want to be stuck with 6 dozen cookies that you don't like???
