Gooey Butter Cake III

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2011
This is a great recipe. For something different I also added a block of goat cheese and 2 TBL of unsweetened cocoa in the cream cheese mixture. It was delicious

Heavenly Potatoes and Ham

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2010
This was fabulous. I took others advice and only used 2.5 lbs of potatoes. I also used less butter, fat free cream of chix soup and reduced fat sour cream. My five year old came back for seconds

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Mar. 9, 2010
We good recipe. I used long grain rice and the pudding came out delicious. The key is to make sure your rice is cooked the desired texture before you start adding the milk and sugar. I do disagree on the amount of sugar used. This recipe needed more than 1/3 cup of sugar. I added about 3 more TBsp of sugar.

Glazed Lemon Supreme Pound Cake

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2010
I made this last week for my husband's luncheon. It came out pretty good, but not really like a pound cake. I liked the icing, nice and lemony

This is wonderful bread. I didn't have grape nut, so I subbed organic flax plus granola. Thank you so much for the recipe

Portuguese Sweet Bread I

Reviewed: Nov. 2, 2009
Excellent recipe. My kids love the hawaiian bread from the grocery store, but it contains high fructose corn syrup. This is a great and cost effective alternative. Thanks for the recipe.

Plain Potato Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2009
This soup is so tasty. I made the following changes: I used chicken broth to cover potatoes instead of water, I added a chopped sweet onion, and I only used one can of evaporated milk. I also topped the soup with crumbled bacon. Yum.

Chocolate Chip Bars

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2009
These were okay. I did use a 10"X15" pan, so they weren't too cake like. I also used half butter and half crisco.

Mom's Stovetop Pork Ribs

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2009
Oh, these are delicious. Okay, I followed the recipe exactly, except I used fresh cilantro. We in Texas us cilantro in everything, so why not? It was soooo good. I used baby back ribs, but I think any pork ribs will work.

Kickin' Collard Greens

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2009
So good! I lost my memom this year she made the best greens in Texas. I made these last week and my girls said they tasted just like Memmoms. That really made my day. May change the bacon to salt pork since that is what my grandmother used.

Ben Lippen School Coffee Cake (Mrs. Hathaway's recipe)

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2009
This is the most moist and delicious coffee cake I have ever tasted. I made the recipe as written with the exception of subbing 1 3/4 c of spelt flour for the all purpose stated. I also doubled the topping. Delicious!

This recipe is very easy and extremely delicious. The only thing I changed was I used 2 1/2 cups of spelt flour instead of all purpose flour. I will be using this recipe again and again.

Not bad. I tried it with soy milk. In the future I may make it a little sweeter and two teaspoons of sugar.

Irish Tea Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2008
A very good cake to enjoy with coffee or tea. A word of warning: this cake needs parchment paper lining. I didn't use it the first time and it stuck to the pan.

D's Famous Salsa

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2008
This salsa is out of this world! I am a born and raised Texan, so I have had my fair share of salsa. I made this recipe without any mods and I used a generic brand of stewed tomatoes (No Hunts here). My husband is a true salsa snob and likes his fresh salsa from Whole Foods. After trying this recipes he hasn't touched his old salsa.

Busy Day Chicken Rice Casserole

Very Easy to make and pretty tasty. I used one can of cream of celery and one can of cream of chicken. Only complaint is that the dish is a little on the salty side.
