Glorious Sponge Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2007
A fantastic recipe. This was my first sponge cake, and I think it came out perfect. (We'll see what the family says tomorrow. I sneaked an early taste!) I used a teaspoon of lemon juice (not the fake stuff), and it gave just a slight lemon taste. Not to overwhelming, just right. The cake is fluffy, beautiful in color, and melt in your mouth delicious!

Chocolate Truffles

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2005
I usually don't make the brand recipes, preferring to go with reader submitted, but this was a great recipe! I had milk chocolate on hand that needed to be used, and I hoped that this would turn out okay. Well, I didn't have enough! I bake a lot and had some leftover semi-sweet and butterscotch chips. So, I used 1 1/2 cups milk chocolate, 1 1/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate, and 1/4 cup buttercotch. I used the standard "coatings" as well as dried blueberries, raisins, and cinammon. These truffles were wonderful! Every last one disapperaed at our party. The recipe was extremely easy, and I highly recommend this one.

Amaretto Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2005
I made this for a school bake sale/auction; two cakes are made, one for sample, one for sale. This was the most popular cake there (take that boring pineapple upside down cake!). Everyone loved it and asked for the recipe. Add an almond butercream icing (or the Almond Chocolate sold in stores) and it's out of this world! Thanks ever so much.

Banana Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
A nice, easy banana bread recipe. I did follow the suggestions to add vanilla. I took it one step further the second time around and added cinnamon and nutmeg. Warm from the oven with butter, YUM!

Lemon Blueberry Bread

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
This wasn't my favorite recipe, only because I like a sweeter bread. My family absolutely loved it! I used fresh picked bluberries lightly coated in flour. They still sank to the bottom; no big deal unless you're looking for picture perfect bread. On one batch, I put a couple pats of butter on top once it was out of the oven instead of the lemon glaze, and it made a delicious buttery "crust." I will make this again.

Grandma's Corn Bread Dressing

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
I love this recipe! I was looking for one that was similar to my mother's. She never had a written recipe, and this was almost identical! It'a simple and easy enough to add extra ingredients for variations. Will definitely make this a Thanksgiving staple.

Lemon Butter Cookies

Reviewed: Mar. 4, 2005
I don't understand how the taste can be so varied when you follow a recipe exactly as stated. I thought these were bland. I tried various icings to "fix" the flavor. This is first time that I have tossed a batch in the garbage. Sorry.
