About this Cook
I love to cook for my husband. It makes me feel good to see the ones I love enjoy what I made with my hands.
My favorite things to cook
I love baking.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Vinager Chicken (my Granddaddy's recipe) Cocoa Mounds (from my Mama's side) German chicken Salad (from my Grandmama) My Mama's Strawberry Mousse
My cooking triumphs
A White Cheese cake/sour cream cake combo which took four days to make! I am newly into making pies so the crust is no longer my nemesis!
My cooking tragedies
I murdered a steak on the grill. Inattention. :( My first pie crust I didnt know one needed pie weights when pre baking.

Cindy's Jambalaya
Well let me start by saying WOW!!!! This is the first time I've made jambalaya and Cindy made me look like a pro! Thanks to Mike for the rice tip as well. I'm a Florida native so I put lots of seafood in ours. In addition to the sausage and shrimp I added lobster and crawfish tails. I also reduced the chicken broth and replaced with1/4 c of Sauvignon Blanc. For the tomatoes I used a can of the fire roasted w/ garlic by Hunts. We like our food a bit spicy so I used 1tbsp of the Cajun spice and 1/2 tsp of old bay. Thanks to Cindy for taking the mystery out of jambalaya!!!

Blueberry Crumb Pie
Well I didn't read the reviews so next time I will use a tblspn of tapioca to thicken this pie. Over all very yummy. For the topping I mixed all the ingredients in a bowl except the rolled oats and put in the food processor to cut in the butter. After it was a crumbly mixture I mixed in the oats by hand. Way quicker. I also brushed the pie crust with some egg before filling to keep it from getting soggy. Thanks for the recipe!
