Rainbow Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2013
This is my sons favorite cookie. I made this recipe last night and it was a hit. Everyone that tasted it said it tasted like it was from the Italian Bakery, and I was asked for the recipe. I did tweek it based on other reviews. I used a can of almond filling, added a teaspoon of almond extract, and added the eggs without separating. It also helps that I used a stand mixer. I can't imagine mixing by hand or with a hand mixer. The parchment paper helps to get the dough out of the pans in one clean step. I melted the chocolate with 1/4 cup of heavy/whipping cream and a tablespoon of butter. I will definitely make this again. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Oreo™ Cookie Bark

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
Quick and Easy!!! My 18 year old son loved it. I made goodies bags for the girls at work and they all enjoyed their treat. It was a little sweet for some, but you can never please everyone. I used two 12 oz bags of the white/vanilla flavored Candy Melts and one bag of Oreo mini's. I spread half the melted mixture into the pan, placed a layer using half of the mini cookies evenly spaced, covered with the rest of the melted mixture, and topped with the remaining cookies in the open spaces. I also sprinkled the crumbs only on the top for texture and color. It came out perfect and did not look "dirty" like some other reviewers described. Thank you for sharing this recipe. I will definitely make it again.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Apr. 24, 2013
I have never made a turkey in my life!! This was amazing!!! My mom always cooks for all the holidays so I feel no pressure to impress. However, as mom gets older, eventually the cooking will be my responsibility. So, I wanted to see if I could do this. I used this recipe and made a small test turkey. I loved it. I ate turkey all week and never got bored. The gravy was incredible and perfect for dunking your turkey sandwiches. My son, who does not eat turkey, had several servings. The gravy is better than my moms, but don't tell her I said that. Thank you for sharing this recipe.

Sopapilla Cheesecake Pie

Reviewed: May 26, 2013
I love this recipe. I followed the recipe almost exactly. After starting, I realized I didn't have enough sugar. I was 1/4 cup off on the filling (I think it would be sinfully delicious if I used the full cup). I'll be sure to have all the necessary ingredients on hand when I make this again. The only thing I did differently was that I allowed the bottom layer of crescent rolls to bake while I mixed the cheese filling. I didn't want the bottom layer to be under cooked. I also baked at 375 because my oven usually takes a little longer than these recipes suggest. I softened the butter for the topping enough for the mixture to be sort of creamy and much easier to spread over the top, but not enough to be a liquid. This is a new favorite in my home. Thank you

Quick Quiche

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2013
I've never had quiche before and this was a great introductory recipe. I didn't have onions so I used onion powder, and I didn't have swiss cheese so I used shredded extra sharp cheddar and Velveeta slices. I also added chopped up baby spinach leaves for color and left out the butter. It was very good. My 18 year old who doesn't experiment with food enjoyed it too. I'm looking forward to making this again and playing with the ingredients. Maybe I'll add more veggies next time. Definitely recommend.

Bread Pudding II

Reviewed: May 24, 2013
This recipe was delicious. I followed almost everything except I used pepperidge farm cinnamon raisin bread. I do agree that the bottom was a bit custard like, but I liked it. Next time I will take other reviewers suggestions and use three eggs instead of four. Definitely making this again.
