Darin's Slow Cooker Pulled Pork

Reviewed: Jan. 8, 2015
Definitely an Eastern NC BBQ girl. None of that Lexington **** for me! This recipe is a revelation. OF COURSE ideally you smoke it, low, slow, and outside... but if you have a townhouse, this works out okay. It does smell like vinegar - but it smells enough like BBQ that we didn't mind at all. I think that if you have never had this style of barbeque before, you'd definitely notice it. Only one change - halved the amount of cayenne pepper. Used Texas Pete as the hot sauce. Delicious! Can't say that enough. New notes 06Apr2014: The 2 Tablespoons liquid smoke are a great addition. Please do NOT use a skin-on pork butt - it's just too fatty for this. I ended up having to waste a lot of pork because the crock pot was doing some rendering but not enough.

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
I've never tasted flavors like this together in a potato salad. I really liked it! I took the recommendations on changing the size on the potatoes and upping the sauce.

Fudgy Brownies I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
I loved these. I had all the ingredients on hand and made them exactly according to directions. They were delicious, and I had to restrain myself from eating the entire batch all at once! To be sure, one review docks the recipe for inability to cut them neatly - however, I have zero reason to have high presentation standards for brownies, so this didn't matter to me a whit. So if you're looking for something to sell in a pretty package, this may not be what you're looking for. But if you're looking to serve happy people straight from a brownie pan? PERFECT.

The yogurt didn't work for me. The whole thing didn't gel very well together.

Mom's Great Green Beans

Super-simple to prepare. I thought it was a bit heavy on the worchestershire, but that's easy to fix for next time.

Balsamic-Glazed Salmon Fillets

Very simple to make. I've made it both with the white wine and without, and either style is great. A nice, sturdy keeper of a salmon recipe.

Baked French Fries I

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
The first time I made these I burned them - but that was entirely my fault! I was so disappointed that I tried again the next day, and they came out great! Easy to make and better than the frozen ones.

Tea Cakes

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2009
Simple, tasty, and full of potential. I made them with margarine but they still tasted incredible. And all I could think was: they'd be perfect to make "strawberry shortcake cookies" or iced cookies or glazed cookies or .... I am so excited by having this canvas!!!

Corn and Zucchini Melody

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
So easy, and used fresh zucchini from my aunt's garden (and canned corn). My family loved this side dish (but snickered about the name). My onion was a bit bigger than "small" so we had a bit excess onion - next time if I can't find a small one, I'll use half a medium instead of all of a medium! But it was a great way to enjoy the vegetables of summer!

Chrissy's Sweet 'n' Sour Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 2, 2009
This was a hit at the dinner table. My parents had an excess of tomatoes (and were getting a bit sick of just eating them raw). This recipe allowed them to keep the healthiness of a raw tomato but make it more exciting! My "small" onion wasn't as small as it could have been, though. Next time I'll use either milder onion or half of one. But so, so good!
