Soft Oatmeal Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 27, 2007
These oatmeal cookies are delicious. The ratio of flour to oatmeal is nice - you can definitely taste the oatmeal, but not so much that it overwhelms the cookie. They turn out twice as many cookies as the recipe states, if you drop by tablespoons. When I make these I reduce the total amount of sugar by 1/2 cup so I can add mix-ins without making the cookies overly sweet. I've added white chocolate chips and cranberries, chocolate chips and butterscotch chips, and raisins. Sometimes I sprinkle in a bit of coconut as well. I would suggest leaving out the cinnamon if you make these with chocolate chips. Thanks for the recipe!

Best Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2007
Oh my goodness. I think these might be the best cookies I've ever eaten. I made these exactly as instructed. I also made them with oatmeal and chocolate chips, chocolate chips and white chocolate chips, and oatmeal raisin with cinnamon. They are absolutely wonderful. I got about 2x as many cookies as the recipe said I would. Fabulous!

Health Nut Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: May 28, 2007
This is a great muffin. The flavor and texture are very similar to the blueberry bran muffins at Trader Joe's. I left out the banana and used strawberries instead. Next time I will reduce the sugar by 1/4 cup, as the muffin was very sweet. Thanks for posting this recipe.

Baked Oatmeal II

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2007
This is a great way to make oatmeal. I really enjoyed having this for breakfast. The only change I made was to cut the sugar in half, which was the perfect amount of sweetness for me. Also, this recipe made about 12 small servings that are really filling (I couldn't finish mine!) Can't wait to try this with bananas, blueberries, and peaches!

Maple Apple Crisp

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2005
This was probably the best dessert I've tried off this site. I brought this to a gathering and everyone loved it. The only change I made was to add an extra apple since I used a 9x9 baking dish. Like some reviewers mentioned, the maple syrup could be cut down to 1/2 a cup since it was kind of runny. The flavor was amazing, though. I will definitely make this again.

Carrot Oatmeal Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2005
I left out the cream cheese filling and halved the sugar. If I were to make them for guests, though, I would probably only cut the sugar by 1/4. My only complaint is that these were a little greasy, so next time I will cut back on the oil.

Mocha Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2005
These muffins are fantastic! I made a few changes: halved the butter, used only 1/2 cup sugar, and 3/4 cup chocolate chips. I upped the coffee to 3 tablespoons (still couldn't really taste it, though). Everyone loved these!

Fresh Blueberry Pie II

Reviewed: May 31, 2005
I made this pie for company and everyone ate it without complaint, but there were no rave reviews and no one was interested in seconds. While it tasted good, I have had better blueberry pie. I don't think I will make it again. It was too sweet for my taste, even though I cut back on the sugar.

Poppy Seed and Banana Muffins

Reviewed: Mar. 19, 2005
These muffins are absolutely delicious. If you are a fan of very sweet, cake-like muffins, this recipe is definitely not for you. These muffins have a very heavy bran taste and are only slightly sweet from the bananas and honey. If I serve these to guests, I'll probably add more sugar.

Muesli

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2005
This cereal is really good. I like oatmeal, so I added an extra half cup of oats. I also used a mixture of half raisins, half dried apricots, and I left out the sugar to make it a little healthier.

Chicken Chili Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2005
I was not at all impressed with this chili. To me it tasted like it was definitely missing something, and I could not figure out what it was. This soup was watery and the chicken didn't soak up the flavor well at all. It was extremely bland. I eventually added some hot sauce, oregano, and cheese, which seemed to help some. I won't be making this again.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2005
This is a good basic mac and cheese recipe but it needs a little tweaking. The taste of the cheddar was too strong and I even cut it down to one and a half cups. Next time I will add a little more velveeta and less cheddar. Also I added some seasoning salt and parsley, which made the flavor better.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 19, 2005
These rolls were good enough to eat plain. They even tasted greatthe next day without being reheated. I don't have a bread machine, so I simply mixed the sugar, salt, yeast, and water and let sit for five minutes. Then I mixed the other ingredients and covered the dough and let it rise an hour. The rest of the recipe I followed as written. I think next time I may add a little more sugar to the dough and serve them with honey butter.

Fabulous Homemade Bread

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2005
I recently got married about a month ago and I made this recipe as part of our first homemade meal together. The bread was very good, jut like my mom used to make it. I substituted 2/3 cup white sugar for the brown sugar. I also sprinkled some brown sugar on top before baking.
