Quick and easy recipe using ingredients that are usually on hand. I used whole milk, canned chicken broth, sharp shedded cheddar and 1/2 lb cooked and crumbled hot italian sausage in place of the ham. I also added the flour to the vegetables after they were tender, stirring over the heat for a minute then slowly added the milk. It adapts well to whatever consistency you prefer,if you like it thicker add more flour (about 1-2 Tbsp)or add more liquid for a thinner soup. Great recipe to serve with salad, sandwiches or bread for dipping.
