Cinnamon Apple Syrup

Reviewed: Nov. 24, 2006
This was good and I think the recipe has potential...I agree with another reviewer that it calls for too much cinnamon. So much that it almost makes it bitter. Next time I'll try using less cinnamon and maybe add some lemon juice or something to add dynamics.

Lemon Chess Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2006
What is a chess pie anyway? Well, after making this, I describe it as a lemon bar. It's the same texture and flavor as a lemon bar, yet doesn't have that unappealing eggy flavor. If you're looking for something tart, look elsewhere. This was tastey and low cal.

English Toffee

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2006
If you've made this and it didn't turn out, you need to read the review from 12/20/03 LCDOYLE. I did, and it turned out perfectly. Also, when the recipe says bring to a boil, that means to crank the heat up. Don't leave it on Med Low. You'll not get anywhere. Good luck! This is a great recipe.

Zucchini Soup III

Reviewed: Aug. 24, 2006
Mmmmmm...This is so good. I halved everything in the recipe except the spices. I also didn't have celery, so in its place, just used a bit of celery salt and added more zucchini. The only liquid is in the stewed tomatos, so I found I had to add water or else I'd be left with not much 'soup' just veggies. Way good though. I will surely make again!

Cheese and Broccoli Chicken Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
This turned out really good. I added a half of a large, white onion when the broccoli was added. And also used canned chicken. When it was time to add the paste, I mixed some of the watery soup to the paste to smooth it out. I think that was the key for no lumps. I had tons of leftovers too and they were great the next day. Everybody who I shared with, raved!

Hashbrown Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 7, 2006
This is sooooo yummy. I accidently bought hashbrowns with peppers and onions and really feel that's what made the dish. I took this dish to a birthday potluck. It was gone so fast and everybody commented on the zing. Will definately make again. Thanks.

Easy Swedish Apple Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2006
I've never eaten or made a Swedish Apple Pie before, so I didn't know what to expect. I thought the crust would be crumbly, but it's more like a cobbler. Sooo yummy. This was super good and way easy to make. I also had all the ingredients, so I'll probably fall back on this recipe a lot. Another plus is the cooking time isn't long in comparison to other's I've seen. I served mine with vanilla ice cream... Mmmmm, I want more right now! Thank you!

Southwestern Grilled Chicken with Lime Butter

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2006
This is sooo yummy! You must make the butter too. It really compliments the chicken. I too used a jalepeno instead of a serrano. I also used chicken breasts and pounded them flat to about 1/2 inch. They cooked up really quick on the grill and were so tender too. Thanks for the unique & tasty recipe!

Lime Chicken Soft Tacos

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
These were pretty good. If I make them again, I'll probably try substituting cilantro for the oregano as others have suggested.

Baked Teriyaki Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2006
This is a very yummy dish. I used chicken breasts (partially frozen) intead of thighs. And to cut the time even more, I cut the breasts into large pieces. The cooking time was only 30 mins and I basted every 5, and turned the pieces over at 15 minutes. Turned out great. I will for sure make again. Thanks!

Mexican Salmon

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2006
This marinade is way good. I didn't use the peppers or the garlic. I used powder for both instead. I highly recommend making salmon tacos with this, topped with the mango salsa from this site. Way good!

Black Beans with Bacon

Reviewed: Jun. 2, 2006
This was way good. I simplified the recipe by using canned beans and I precooked my bacon in the microwave, reserving the drippings to add to the mix. I served it over rice and served along side the Jamaican Jerk Chicken from this site and couldn't get enough. It is very good the next day too, but the bacon goes soggy. Next time I will not stir the bacon in, but sprinkle on individual servings. Thank you! Will make again.

Best Lemonade Ever

Reviewed: May 22, 2006
The first time I made this I used bottled lemon juice. It was nasty. I made it again using fresh squeeze lemons and mmmm, good! For the 1 1/2 cups juiced, I used 4 LARGE lemons. I didn't make the simple syrup, I just threw it all together and it was great. I even turned it into a slush in my electric ice cream maker and it was awesome. Thanks!

Chocolate Crinkle Cookies

Reviewed: May 16, 2006
Wow! Okay, I know what needs to be done to make this recipe perfect. After reading the disappointing reviews, I made the following changes. In addition to the 1 ounce of semi sweet chocolate, I added 1/3 cup of cocoa powder. I also reduced the chocolate chips to 1/2 cup. I refrigerated about 4 hours & baked at 350 for 12 minutes. I also did not grease the pan and the cookies came off great. These turned out perfect! Great sweetness, nice and chocolately, chewy and moist, yet crispy.

Ranch Dressing II

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
I halfed the recipe and followed it exactly. I used sour cream. With the sour cream, it would probably be good as a veggie dip, but way too thick and sour cream tasting for a salad dressing...Next time I'll use buttermilk. I'm sure that will help with the consistency and the flavor. The spices seemed right on though.

Chicken Scampi II

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
I really liked this recipe. I had all the ingredients and it was a good change from traditional spaghetti. The flavor was good and simple and most importantly, my picky family liked it. I will make again most definately! Thanks!

Marinade for Steak I

Reviewed: May 9, 2006
This was my first attempt at marinating steaks. I usually season steak with salt, pepper, maybe some garlic or onion powder and butter. Because I like the flavor of the actual meat, I'm going to stick to my old ways. the marinate was way overpowering. I will probably not make this recipe again. My husband described the onions and the meat as "sour" tasting. I'm sure that was due to the red wine vinegar... I did marinate overnight, so maybe if it wasn't marinated as long it would be okay.

Grilled Salmon I

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
I had pretty high expectations for this recipe...Maybe they were too high. It was good, but it didn't blow me away. Next time I think I'll add more sugar, marinade it longer, and cook it crispier. I will try it again though.

Sizzling Chicken Fajitas

Reviewed: May 5, 2006
This is way good and will now be a family staple. Instead of adding 2 tsp of chili powder, I used 1 tsp chili powder and 1 tsp of cumin. I used fresh squeezed lime juice and didn't add any lime juice to the veggies, as other reviews said that the lime flavor was a little overpowering. Turned out great. Not too spicy either, just flavorful.
