Salmon Macaroni Bake

Reviewed: Sep. 29, 2010
I had such high hopes....but hubby and I both hated it. However, my parents liked it so they took some home with them.

Shortbread Cookies II

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2009
Delicious! I whipped the living daylights out of the dough in every step. I split the dough into 4 logs and wrapped in wax paper to chill it (as per another reviewer), then sliced into 1/2" slices. Yielded over 5 doz cookies. Thanks! Will definitely be making this one again!

Snowballs

These are amazing. I make them every Christmas and they don't last long! I also roll them in the powdered sugar twice. I've made with both pecans and walnuts and they come out great every time.

Chai Cupcakes

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2009
Sorry, these came out like little bran muffins. I tried to modify the recipe as previous reviewers suggested, but they just didn't turn out for me. I had such high hopes for them.

Potatoes and Carrots

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
Pretty good, but I imagine it would be bland. I tossed my veggies with the salt & pepper and also with some Tony Chachere's Creole seasoning (spelling on that? too lazy to get up and look) to give it some extra pizzazz. Also, since I greatly cut the servings down to 3, I only cooked them for a half hour.

Black Bean Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 14, 2006
This was EXCELLENT! I didn't have any cilantro, but it was still good without. One note - I added sour cream on top, but I wouldn't again because it started to cook by the time we were getting to the bottom of our bowls...however, since the recipe does not call for sour cream, I still must give it 5 stars. Served with mini quesadillas for dipping.

Lemon Square Bars

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
So good! Nice and rich - I ran out of lemon juice, so I added a little lime to make up the difference. Perfectly tart...and the crust is sooooo tasty! Used a 7x11 pan instead of 9x13 (don't have a 9x13 LOL)...I just think I should have baked it longer - but they were still delicious!

Stuffed Mushrooms IV

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
These were AWESOME! I kinda winged the recipe a little as I added more garlic and some celery to it. Also, I completely FORGOT to add the cream to it - this was my first time making stuffed mushrooms, so I called a friend in panic (this is after I had them ready to go in the oven) - she suggested a little bit of zinfandel on each one...I used a turkey baster to add the wine and they were AMAZING! Definitely the fastest appetizer gone from the Thanksgiving spread! Will definitely be making these again. Also, I didn't have any chili powder so I just left it out. :)

Rich and Simple French Onion Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
This is BY FAR the BEST french onion soup recipe I've found! Everyone always raves about it - my husband and I both absolutely LOVE it! I usually end up using whatever cheese I have on hand but it always turns out wonderful!

Cream Cheese Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2005
Didn't care for the texture, maybe I did something wrong as it just didn't appeal to me. The recipe was easy to make though - am giving it 2 stars based on that fact only. Will have to stick to my regular recipe.

Brown Sugar Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
Great recipe, although I put the ketchup/brown sugar on the top also. My picky 4 year-old son will eat this...so it's a winner!

Applesauce Custard Pie

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
Awesome! I think the people that found it too sweet were using regular applesauce. I boiled up 3 apples and made my own (2 large braeburns and 1 granny smith) with no sugar there. I used a full cup of sugar and it wasn't too sweet. However, I just added spices until I thought it looked "spicy" enough! A bit of nutmeg, some cinnamon, cloves would be great in this I think...just a tad. I also ended up baking this without the crust as my crust didn't turn out the way I would have hoped. The only problem with that is the sugar crystallized on the edges. Perhaps that's because I didn't use a mixer. I probably cooked it a little longer than called for as I used smaller pie plates, but I loved the way it turned out. The consistency was a bit like pumpkin pie...would be excellent with some whipped cream on top! I think I'll be making this as an additional pie for Thanksgiving!

Crazy Crust Pizza Dough

Reviewed: Sep. 19, 2004
I like this recipe, although I add a bit of garlic powder, parsley and Italian seasoning (in place of the oregano). The first time I tried it, it stuck horribly to the pan (I used a deep frying pan for deep dish style), so I changed things around and used a cookie sheet, well oiled. I bake it for about 10-15 minutes before adding the toppings so we end up with a nice, crisp thin crust. Great recipe when you don't have yeast on hand, and makes a great pizza out of a few ingredients! I have this in my recipe box and will continue to use it on game days!

Beef Stroganoff I

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2004
I followed every instruction and would NEVER make this again. The sauce did not turn out very smooth. My advice is this - do not try to make a stroganoff dish without the cream of mushroom soup!
