Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2013
These were great muffins, although I made some changes to make them healthier. I cut the sugar by half and they were plenty sweet! Used half whole-wheat flour and added some wheat germ to lighten them. I also skipped the strussel because I knew we wouldn't eat most of them the same day. They were really yummy and relatively healthy after the changes.

Nana's Southern Coleslaw

Reviewed: Aug. 15, 2013
This was a bit hit at the birthday party. Next time I'll use less milk and more acid, and add some sunflower seeds for crunch. Great base recipe!

Sweet Jalapeno Cornbread

Reviewed: Aug. 5, 2013
I didn't have any jalapenos so I used habanero. I put it in a tin foil pan and baked it on the barbeque, it turned out really well.

Banana Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2013
This is one of the lightest, fluffiest cakes I have ever tried. I whipped the sugar and butter until fluffy, then added vanilla, the eggs one at a time, then the bananas. Alternated the dry with the milk. I added some dark chocolate slivers. I don't even think I'll ice it (I LOVE icing) this cake is that good without it. Thank you!!!

Spicy Indian Chicken and Mango Curry

Reviewed: May 9, 2013
Really good, I added quite a few more things, once adding garlic, carrots and whatever else I felt like. Very ripe mangos are key! Great basic recipe, thanks!

Split Pea Smoked Turkey Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2013
This was way too salty, I'll use mostly water instead of broth next time unless I have homemade. We added thyme and black pepper. Next time we'll just use 1 leg (1.5 lbs) and strip the flesh off first, it's way easier to when it's cold instead of steaming hot. Nutritious and filling, we'll make again.

Oatmeal and Wheat Flour Blueberry Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2013
This recipe was really good! Made enough for 5-6 servings. They came out really thick with a bit of a baking powder aftertaste so next time I think I'll cut the bp back by 1/2 tbsp or so. I added some vanilla and probably doubled the blueberries. Very good! Thanks!!

Grant's Special Mardi Gras Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
This was delicious! I added more veggies and sausage. I used chorizo, half n half, added a bit of basil and only used about 1/4 cup butter in the beginning, none at the end. It was so delicious! I can't wait to make again :-) Thank you!

Frank's Favorite Slow-Cooker Thai Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
Good flavours but the cook time was too long, Like other reviewers mentioned it turned into a 'pulled meat' dish instead of chicken chunks. Next time I'll put it at 6 hours. We added chili, curry powder, garlic and a couple red bell peppers. We will make again with the shorter time. Thank you!

Kathy's Delicious Whole Slow Cooker Chicken

Reviewed: Feb. 19, 2013
We cooked the chicken for only 7 hours and it was so overcooked it was hard to eat. The spices were okay, DH loved it but I wasn't a big fan. I think it was missing something but can't put my finger on what. If we make it again we won't let it cook more than 6 hours.

Mexican Chorizo

Delicious! We added some chipotle and a few more spices. Made it from wild boar meat and it was to die for. Best Chorizo we've ever had. Thank you!

Chocolate Cornstarch Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
This was a great basic recipe. I added 1/4 tsp instant coffee but next time will try 1/2 - 3/4 tsp. Maybe a bit more cocoa. It got super thick for me, no problem at all!! It took awhile to boil but then went perfect. I'll use this as a base recipe and try adding different flavours, next time more coffee, maybe with a touch of cinnamon... Thank you!

Kelly's Butterscotch Pudding

Reviewed: Feb. 12, 2013
This was good. I used half dark brown and half light brown sugar. and cut it back to 3/4 cup. Next time I'll try with all dark brown sugar to give it a richer flavour. 3/4 cup was perfect, it would've been way to sweet without it. I also mixed the sugar mixture with the cold milk and cooked it together instead of boiling the milk first. It got super thick and perfect.

Best hummus recipe I've made yet! We actually preferred it without the spices, just the first 5 ingredients.

Mushroom Stuffing

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
My husband and our guests would've given this 5 stars but I wasn't blown away by it. I used half the bread cubes, twice the chicken broth and portobellos instead of regular mushrooms. Probably about triple the spices too.

Caramelized Brussels Sprouts with Pistachios

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I couldn't get the brussels to caramelize even though I only put a bit of vinegar in. I will try this again and throw in all the vinegar right at the end. The flavours were good and the guests all took seconds :-)

Mashed Chipotle Sweet Potatoes

I would've given this 5 stars but my husband preferred our other recipe (sweet potatos with roasted garlic and rosemary, from allrecipes). This was really easy and I loved the smokey heat finish. Very good!

Baked Asian-Style Honey Chicken

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2012
I added 2 tbs rice wine vinegar but kept the rest the same. It was really tasty! Baked at 175C, 225C is way too high to make for juicy chicken. Great recipe though and we'll definately make again
