Hasenpfeffer (Rabbit Stew)

Reviewed: Dec. 6, 2007
This was an excellent recipe, my first rabbit experience. I followed the recipe until right after cooking the garlic & shallot, at which time I added everything to the crockpot, set it on low, and cooked it for 9 hours. Then I made the gravy as directed and served with oven-roasted potatoes & carrots. We used wild snowshoe hare in the recipe and it turned out melt-in-your-mouth tender. My husband couldn't stop raving about how tender it was. My 4-year old had seconds.

Pasta e Fagioli II

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2006
This was delicious. I added way more chopped veggies, though, and chopped the carrots instead of grating them. I added fresh zucchini and fresh peas toward the end of cooking. Recommend cooking the pasta separately and adding as needed if you will have leftovers.

Nutty Pumpkin Waffles

Delicious! I entirely forgot the butter and they were great. We left out the nuts, and the syrup was yummy, too.

High Temperature Eye-of-Round Roast

Reviewed: May 7, 2008
I was worried it wouldn't come out, but my roast was delicious, a little on the done side, but my family loved it. I coated the roast with garlic salt and ground black pepper before roasting it. Simple and easy!

Delicious! Used fresh basil & parsley, added frozen spinach, thawed & drained, and pureed in food processor as suggested by others. My kids enjoyed helping make them, and then eating them afterward.

Tomato Barley Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2008
Delicious and versatile. Didn't have fresh tomatoes or celery on hand, so used a can of condensed tomato soup, and added fresh spinach and thawed frozen french green beans cut into 1-inch pieces. Followed other suggestions and beefed up the spices (I used fresh parsley & dried basil). Topped with grated parmesan. Tastes like a tomato-y minestrone.

Sunny Pancakes

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2008
My family thought these pancakes were delicious. I loved the texture and the orange flavor was so yummy. They were good alone and with the sauce. I pretty much made them as directed: used fresh orange juice, half whole wheat flour, and had to add a little cornstarch mixed with cold water to the sauce to thicken it more. Mmmm-mmm

Great crust, my family loved it. Very easy to roll out. Baked 10 minutes, then added toppings and baked another 10, as recommended by others.

Grandma's Corn Pudding

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2009
Delicious! Served at Thanksgiving dinner & everyone raved. The only change I made was that I doubled the recipe but I was short one can of cream style corn and I used only 6 eggs. Making again for Christmas dinner!

Wheat Germ Whole-Wheat Buttermilk Pancakes

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2008
Mmmmm. These were just what I wanted, light and fluffy. Added 1 T. brown sugar. Good with 1 c. white flour, 1 c. wheat flour instead of the wheat germ/whole wheat pastry flour.

Colleen's Slow Cooker Jambalaya

Reviewed: Feb. 28, 2010
This is delicious! Pretty much followed the recipe, except omitted the extra cayenne (there's plenty of cayenne in my cajun seasoning) so my kids could handle the heat, and used thawed, uncooked shrimp, pulled off the tails and threw in raw about 20-30 minutes before serving. Served with cooked rice. This is a keeper!

Yum! Used leftover cooked fresh Alaska silver salmon. Added 1 tsp dijon, pinch onion powder (instead of onions), splash of lemon juice, dash of old bay & black pepper. Rolled patties in crushed saltines. Kids loved em!
