Extra Extra Rich Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
this was not to my liking. i switched the sugar and cocoa like previous users have recommended and watched it closely so it didn't overbake. well the center was a goopy mess that wouldn't come out of the pan, and the edges were perfect. it tasted awful though. i couldn't rate it less than one star even though i would have. i will not use this again and will remove it from my recipe box.

Plantain Chips

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
my green plantain crisped nicer and was easier to cut uniformly, while the yellow plantain was softer, sweeter and cooked a darker brown and remained chewy. although these differences occured both are still fantastic to eat!

Beef Samosas

Reviewed: Apr. 8, 2010
great filling flavour, but to reduce the pressure on stomach bloating i removed the potato. i like to use home made bread dough risen and punched down and rolled out, then baked before rising again. be sure to make a hole in the top so there are no air pockets. thanks!

Dark Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2010
amazing! thanks to a many other reviews i did changes, i used half milk and half water for the cocoa mixture and added more cocoa than measured.i then put into a 10cup bundt and baked for over 1 hour, well worth the wait! in a rush i grabbed a can of duncin hines cream cheese icing and "watered"it down with milk to make it pour over the cake like in the picture. even the most picky chocolate cake tasters loved this. will keep this one. it would be fantastic with different flavours.

Caramel Pecan Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2010
a word of warning, the butter from the crust melted out of the sides of the springform pan and dripped on the elements and sometimes caught on fire, but burned out quickly....even at 300 degrees.after 20 mins tho the dripping stopped...i know this will taste amazing and i will add the comments for that after the event is over. the event has passed and i have to say that this produces a cheesecake worthy of specialty dessert shops and coffee shops!! beautiful presentation and the taste is even better!! Note: i changed the chocolate required to melt and drizzle on top to a decadent dark chocolate to rave reviews!! i didn't have caramels and couldn't find them so i used smuckers caramel icecream topping. i put the caramel with a touch of milk in a pot and heated it on low until it was a darker colour and spread that on the crust with the nuts. then used the remaining in the contatiner to drizzle on top before putting on the chocolate and nuts then served it cold. delicious!!!

Simple Maple Syrup

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
amazing!! after i used the last of my maple flavouring i didn't want to buy more( pricey) so when i need to make more i make sure that i haven't used all of the batch and use the remaining as the flavouring for the next batch...this is great and the kids don't even know the difference! i am happy to make a syrup without salt!! and it is great in coffee and no extra sugar is needed!!

Tangy Hawaiian Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2010
i changed the pineapple to a can of cocktail and then reduced the soy sauce to 1/4 cup...sodium is unhealthy! then i added a can of coconut milk and then stirred everything together into a crockpot and cooked it on high until the chicken was cooked through and served on a bed of brown rice....yum

Homemade Flour Tortillas

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2009
hmmm...just finished making this very timely item...it tastes...slightly chewy, crunchy in some places, soft in others, slightly thicker than store bought because i couldn't get it very thin even using a marble roller...i used vegetable shortening instead of lard and used olive oil in the frying pan to cook the tortillas, i didn't know if i was supposed to or not as it was not in the directions but i figured that that flour would eventually start to burn on the pan . the next day it was greasy and heavy....not liked at all...will not make this again.

Low-Carb Chocolate Swirl Cheesecake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2009
i made changes to it, because the low carb option wasn't necessary. make sure to cool the chocolate well after melting it or it will curdle the eggs. the higher the cocoa percentage of chocloate you use the richer flavour it will have...it is a fantastic cheesecake!! if low carb isn't important to you there are many ways to cut corners in this recipe but still maintain its amazing flavour!! email me if you want to know more!!

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Feb. 20, 2009
I was able to substitute the cocoa powder for EAS 100% whey protein powder and reduce the suger to 3/4 cup....they tasted fantastic and changed the protein count to over 50g!! perfect for my husbands sweet tooth while he's still bodybuilding! ( its also a great way to boost the protein and calorie intake for picky eating children!)
