Chicken and Gnocchi Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
Amazing! Didn't need to use the cornstarch, added thyme to give more depth. This is the second time I've made this soup and certainly not the last.

Yum, yum. I used butter instead of oil and smeared it all over. Success!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2011
I made this last night and was very pleased with the results. I only added a bit of brown sugar and used less tomato sauce and added a can of whole tomatoes. I love a kick to my soups so I added a couple tablespoons of garlic/chili sauce. Thanks for the recipe.

Slow-Cooked Country Ribs in Gravy

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2009
I made these with side ribs but forgot to put in the chopped onion..oops. Maybe that is why I found them to be quite bland...ended up glazing them with plum sauce and putting them under the broiler for a few minutes which saved the meal.

Chicken Breasts Pierre

Reviewed: Sep. 16, 2007
This was really nice but I think a few added vegetables would improve the overall texture and taste. Next time I make this I will add whole button mushrooms and peppers.

Rice-so-Nice

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2007
Yummy! We made this last night with the broiled pesto salmon from this site also and wished that we had doubled the batch. I used fresh mushrooms and chicken broth instead, as well as cut the butter in 1/2. Thanks I'll make this again.

Tiramisu Layer Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2007
I made this excellent cake for my friend's birthday and it was delicious, not too sweet and the perfect consistency. Like other reviewers, I too used way more coffee and liquer for each of the layers, and did two coffee cake layers instead of one. Thanks for the great recipe, I'll be making this one again.

Dash's Donair

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
I love this recipe! First time I had a donair was in Halifax while I was visiting, when I came upon this recipe I was stoked! I find that for two of us, the amount of sauce is too much, so I cut it in half, 8oz of evap. milk, 1/3 c of sugar, 1 tsp gar. powder and 2 1/2 tsp of vinegar. I make two small loaves instead of one and cook them both but freeze one, that way your meat is ready to go next time you get a craving for this delicious meal.

Ukrainian Red Borscht Soup

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2006
I really enjoyed this borscht. The only thing I had to adjust was the amount of liquid. The recipe calls for 2quarts and then 3/4c of water. I found the soup was too thick (I really like broth). At the end I added fresh dill and a dollop of sour cream in each bowl. Yummy!

Scalloped Oysters I

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2004
The reviews on this recipe were the reason why I decided to try it and I was quite dissappointed. The whole thing ended up a squishy mess. If you like your oysters firm, don't try this one.

Hearty Lentil Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 7, 2004
This is a fantastic base recipe to create many flavours off of. I used parsnips, potatoes, carrots, onions and green beans to create a hearty soup. I found that I needed to add lots of herbs and spices to really get flavour out of the broth. I definately recommend this recipe.
