I'm happily connected to Michael since 2000, love my kids-in-law, have an almost 1-year-old grandson who is the light of my life! I'm a legal secretary. I love trying new recipes and I get bored making the same stuff all the time.
My favorite things to cook
I love to make scalloped potatoes & meat loaf - nothing fancy, but a great comfort meal! I'm also known for my cheesy potatoes and cream-filled cupcakes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I used to help my grandmother make stuffed cabbages and bread, pies, angel wings and donuts. I'm sorry I didn't write down her recipes as we made them, but I was a teenager then and I thought I (and she) had forever!
My cooking triumphs
I've been pulling off Christmas Eve dinner for my family for about 20 years now. We have turkey, ham, kielbasa, mashed potatoes, cheesy potatoes, various veggies, and a bunch of pies! While I was married, I even cooked Christmas dinner the next day for the other side of the family - I did that for about 6-8 years (and I was a lot younger then)!!!!
My cooking tragedies
Speaking of the aforementioned turkey, I cooked the giblets bag inside the turkey one year. I also tried some kind of potato-squash bake casserole that sounded yummy but ended up being a pizza night!

Lobster Mornay Sauce
This recipe is going into the rotation. I can see how some said it was bland, so I added a couple of minced cloves of garlic (and I could have added more). I added a little extra cream too, to cut down the thickness of the sauce. It tasted really, really good and looking forward to trying it with shrimp too!

Terrific Turkey Tetrazzini
I think this was fabulous! I tweaked it just a little, adding onion and garlic powder. I didn't use mushrooms (just mushroomed out after the Holiday, I guess) and regular 2% milk (it was what I had). I used equal parts Parmesan and Italian bread crumbs mixed with ½ as much melted butter for the top. DH (Mr. Picky of the century) loved it too, it's going into the rotation!

Chicken Cordon Bleu I
Oh yum! I always read reviews before I cook and between the original recipe and suggestions in the reviews this was wonderful! I used Egg Beaters to wash the chicken after I rolled it up (I butterflied one breast and pounded the other) and used Polish deli ham (I agree that regular ham would taste better) AND made the sauce. With rice and broccoli this was a fabulous meal! Keeping this one in the rotation for sure!
