French Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2015
Very good! I took the advice of some other reviewers and used 5 cups of flour, added a little sugar and increased the salt to about a tble spoon. It had a nice crunchy crust and soft, chewy inside.

Jalapeno Popper Spread

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
I actually served this as one of the appetizers for my wedding. It was a huge hit. The girl that made it cut the mayo down and added more chilies and peppers. I get request to make it all the time, winner!

Filipino Lumpia

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2015
Okay, I only made the pork and vegetables, skipped the wrappers and frying because I'm trying to lose some lbs. But, it was still great. The only thing I did differently was substitute sesame oil for vegetable oil and added fresh ginger. I can imagine this would be amazing wrapped up and fried, yum. I WILL try that some day.

Sweet Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2015
Loved them! Luckily, someone had posted directions using a KitchenAid (I don't have a bread maker). My husband loved them and he's pretty picky. The only thing I did differently was butter them AFTER they came out the oven (that's how we did it when I worked at Golden Corral).

Amazing Whole Wheat Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2014
I tried this last night and really enjoyed it, my husband not so much. But, he still is into white bread and doesn't care for wheat anything. I made it the night before and stuck the dough in the fridge for the next night. It was a little bland, but that's the beauty of a base recipe. Next time I will add more salt, garlic, herbs and all wheat flour(since it looks like it will just be me eating it). Very simple to make and so much cheaper than buying the pre-made crust. Thanks!

Chili-Lime Chicken Kabobs

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2014
This was really good! FYI, 2 key limes do NOT equal 1 lime. I had several key limes left and wanted to use them. I had also read the advice of others, and added more lime. The taste was really good, but it was like eating a concentrated lime. Not the fault of the recipe, but mine.

Lamb Chops with Balsamic Reduction

Reviewed: Aug. 20, 2014
Eh, this was okay. I put more spices than the recipe called for and dusted with Kosher salt, and the chops were still very bland. My advice, but about 3 times the amount of spice you think you will need on the chops. The sauce was okay. The only changes I made was adding mushrooms to the sauce. Next time, I'll think I'll go the Greek route. BUT, I did layer on on bed of greens with green onions sprinkled on top. The presentation was beautiful.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Jul. 31, 2014
These were very good, but a little bland. I tasted the seasoning before rolling and it tasted like plenty of salt. But after cooking, some of the seasonings seemed to mellow. However, I modified the servings, which can change the outcome. Easy fix. The chicken to vegetable ratio was a little heavy on the chicken. I will add more veggies next time. My husband cleaned his plate, so I definitely count that as a win! He's extremely picky and seemed disappointed when he saw the chicken mixture. But once I hold him I was going to wrap it up and fry it, he perked up. I did us egg roll wrappers.

The Best Thai Coconut Soup

Reviewed: Jul. 9, 2014
I made this last night and it was really good. The only thing I did different was used chicken instead of shrimp (didn't have any shrimp). I sauteed the chicken in the lemon grass, curry paste, fish sauce, and ginger. My only complaint was about the fish sauce, yuck! I live on the coast, I love seafood, but that was disgusting. Luckily, there is only a hint of the flavor, so it didn't ruin the dish. But, I certainly will leave it out next time. I will definitely try again, without the fish sauce.

Pesto Pasta with Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2014
Wow!!! This was amazing and so easy! Definitely going into my rotation. I actually stuffed the chicken breast with cream cheese, Italian cheese blend, pesto and Canadian bacon (kind of like a cordon bleu) top with a little more pesto and baked the chicken before adding to the pasta. I can't wait for left overs! A beautiful, impressive and inexpensive meal-can't go wrong with that!

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Jun. 25, 2014
I would actually rate this 3.5, if I could. The taste was okay. It was bland and I added much more honey and soy sauce at the end. I tripled the recipe to have more sauce, so maybe that threw off the flavor. It was VERY easy and I had everything in my house to prepare it. I also use raw shrimp and sauteed in butter, garlic and a little soy sauce. Not sure if I will make this again. BUT, my husband did eat it and said it was okay to pack for lunch the day. He's very picky.

Fish Tacos Ultimo

Reviewed: Apr. 10, 2014
This was edible, but nothing I will make again. I followed the directions exactly for the sauce and it was bland. I added green onions, garlic salt and paprika and that made it a little better. We just felt like something was missing. I feel like the fish tacos at restaurants are a little sweeter. Maybe I'll try with peach or mango salsa next time.
