About this Cook
I have been married for 18 years and have 4 wonderful children. They like my cooking, usually :), so I use them as my taste testers. If it passes with them, it will generally pass for everyone else.
My favorite things to cook
I LOVE to bake...I actually have aspirations to someday open my own bakery. I also like trying new recipes...often when we are entertaining-I guess I work better under pressure. So far, most things have turned out well.
My favorite family cooking traditions
We've made gingerbread people and sugar cookies for Thanksgiving and Christmas for about the last 6 years. Very fun. I always have lots of volunteers to help me in the kitchen. :)
My cooking triumphs
Making cinnamon rolls was a big accomplishment for me...and, recently, making homemade granola has been awesome!
My cooking tragedies
Making banana bread with...no bananas when I was in high school. :) And, I have made oatmeal cookies with no sugar. :) So, my family has been through it all. I now put all of my ingredients on one side of the counter and transfer them to the other side to ensure all ingredients are included in my food. :)

Tortellini Soup I
A friend brought this soup to one of our church small group get togethers and it was WONDERFUL! She used chicken broth, so I followed suit and did the same. I also couldn't find frozen zucchini anywhere and it is not currently in season so I used a frozen Italian veg mix that has carrots, zucchini, and red peppers...all of which are in the soup anyway and it saved me prep time! Score. :) Good stuff!

Taco Seasoning I
This is a fantastic way to monitior and control the amount of sodium in your food...make the spice mix yourself! I altered it a tad by adding 1/8 tsp. cayenne, 1/4 tsp. chipotle powder, 1/4 tsp. garlic powder, and a splash if Sriracha sauce when you are cooking the meat and spices together. Delish!

Mild Curry Powder
I thought it was very tasty and was relieved to find a make-your-own for this. I have purchased the jar kind...but don't think I'll be going back to that. I did add 1/8 tsp. of onion powder and 1/4 tsp. of cayenne (I like it spic-ay). :) Thank you so much for the recipe!!
