Iowa Pork Steak

Reviewed: Mar. 2, 2010
Good recipe! Changes I made were used fresh mushrooms, lightly sauteed mushrooms & onions after browning pork, and used beef broth instead of water. Served over broad noodles and completed meal with steamed mixed vegtables. Anticipation grew from the aroma while it was in the oven. Whole family really enjoyed the meal.

Baked Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 10, 2009
Great & tasty meal! I was intrigued by the recipe to "bake" beef stew and using the ingredient - instant tapioca. My tweeking was to put stewing beef in ziplock bag and add flour & spices (rosemary, thyme, etc.) to the bag to coat beef stew before browning it. Used olive oil to brown meat along with some of the chopped onions and some crushed garlic (about 2 cloves). I used beef stock, this is what I had but would use the stock or beef broth instead of water. When mixing everything together I used about a tablespoon of Worchester Sauce and a little shy of 1/2 teaspoon of Kitchen Boquet (I use this when making brown gravy). I did not add the bread. Other than that I followed the original recipe with fantastic results.

Dixie Pork Chops

Reviewed: Feb. 23, 2009
This was fantastic! Made for a family gathering and everyone had a clean plate when they were done. Used a few suggestions by others. Browned the pork chops with a bit of sage and rosemary. Used Apple Cider Vinegar instead of White Vinegar. When I covered the chops with the apples and sugar, I also used about 1/4 tsp of cinnamon & 1/8 tsp of sage & rosemary. Used a combination of dried cherries, golden raisins, craisins, & regular raisins. I also used butterfly pork chops (nice, thick, & on sale) cut in half. Took about an hour to cook. Came out tender & juicy.

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2008
This was great! Made the day b4 for Thanksgiving & was crowd pleaser. Put potatoes through ricer. For cream cheese used onion & chives flavor. Used only half of onion powder called for and used garlic powder for remaining amount. Put in crockpot and added a pat of butter when I turned it on low for 3 hours. Turned crockpot on high while I got turkey ready. Potatoes were excellent & plan on using recipe again.

This recipe tasted fantastic! Made exactly as stated. The chicken was so moist and juicy. My son, who is a chef, raved how good it was and wanted the recipe. Will definately make again and again.

Herbed Cornish Hens

So-so recipe. Added rosemary along with other seasonings. If make again will cut down on the lemon juice, a bit too much for our tastes.

Slow Cooker Beef Barley Soup

Good Recipe! Made at last minute on stove and family really liked it. Changes I made were used vegetable broth and mushroom broth in place of 6 cups of water. Added a dash of worchester sauce, A&1, and kitchen boquet. Will make again.

Grilled Chicken Thighs Tandoori

Reviewed: Aug. 4, 2008
My husband and I did not like this. We were very disappointed in the taste. Followed the recipe exactly as stated. Expected more of a spicy taste. The only positive comment I can make is that the chicken thighs were very moist.

Souvlaki

Used this on pork tenderloin, but left the tenderloin whole instead of cutting it up. Let marinade for a couple of days before grilling. It smelled and tasted so good.

Not bad, but not great either. Rather bland, like something was missing from the recipe. Will try again though

Best Fried Green Tomatoes

These are the best Fried Green Tomatoes I have ever made. The dipping in flour than the breadcrumb mixture made the coating stay on better.
