About this Cook
I am a mom approaching 41. For the past ten years I have loved baking. I am definitely passionate about baking and cooking and consider it a fun hobby!!! It is also a wonderful teaching/bonding tool for my ten year old daughter Skylar. We cherish our time together in the kitchen.:)
My favorite things to cook
I love baking cupcakes, muffins, breads, cakes and cookies. I even enjoy making chocolate chile cake and a variety of fudge. As for cooking, I love to use my slow cooker. I have also perfected many dinner recipes such as breaded pork chops, italian meatballs, pulled pork, pot roast, casseroles and lasagna. Cooking and Baking are two of my favorite hobbies :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Baking with my daughter Skylar. She even wears a chefs hat and apron when she bakes with me. Too Cute:)Skylar also helps me now when I cook. We even make our own marinara sauce from scratch!!
My cooking triumphs
I make delicious baked goods from scratch. I have made anything from easy box recipes to advanced difficult recipes. My baking is almost always from scratch.
My cooking tragedies
I flopped on a bundt cake. I had company and went to put bundt cake out of pan and on to plate and it fell apart. I also made rice krispie treats once that did not turn out very well.

Banana Banana Bread
This was a very easy recipe to put together. My picky 12 year old absolutely loved it. I however, thought it was a bit bland and too dense. I did however, cream the mashed bananas (only 4), when I should not have creamed them. I should have just stirred the banana mixture in like the recipe said to. Also, next time I will add vanilla extract, cinnamon, allspice, nutmeg, and ginger. I will also use at least 5 very ripe bananas.I am hoping these adjustments will enhance the flavor of the bread. The recipe was baked for 55 minutes in the oven on 350 degrees on middle shelf. I checked the bread several times. It does not need to be baked as long as recipe states. I also put aluminum foil on my bread for the last 15 minutes of baking so that the top would not brown. UPDATE:After cooling off this Banana Bread, I wrapped this in plastic wrap. I just had a slice tonight drizzled with honey on top, and it is DELICIOUS AND MOIST!! It actually tasted better the next day. My daughter loves it so much. I will make this again for sure.

Never Fail Chocolate Chip Cookies
These cookies were perfect!! They were extremely easy to make. I loved the fact that they were not overly sweet like some chocolate chip cookies that I have made in the past. They were also the perfect texture; not too soft or crunchy-just perfect. I did not have any unsalted butter on hand (which is what I always use for baking), so I simply omitted the salt. Other than omitting the salt, I followed the recipe 100%.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies
Excellent recipe and quite easy. It is rich, chocolaty and decadent. I just should have waited to cut it! My picture does not do it justice, because I cut it right away. The end result was still fabulous. This will now be my permanent brownie recipe. Next time I will serve with vanilla bean ice cream on top. Delicious!!
