About this Cook
I work in the cable television industry editing programs and promotional materials for two cable television networks. Cooking has been my relaxation from the stresses of work for many years.
My favorite things to cook
I will try anything. Over the past 35 years I have collected in excess of 40,000 recipes from many sources including books, magazines and online. I will try anything from homemade Gyro meat to Baklava, I have been told for years my egg rolls are to die for, and I love doing Italian meals. I will take on just about any type of food and always make sure I do all of the courses that go with the meal. From appetizers to salads, soups, sides, entree and desserts.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Thanksgiving dinner. My mom taught me years ago how to cook a turkey, (the secret is basting), and after my first one she quit doing it and let me make the dinners. That was 30 years ago and I still do it all and love it.
My cooking triumphs
I have created so many different types of meals and dishes that I don't consider any of them as "triumphs", I am just grateful that it is not hard to fill the seats around our table when I get the time and opportunity to fix a meal.
My cooking tragedies
As far as I know, every place I have ever lived is still standing!

Chicken Tortilla Soup
This has become a bi-weekly soup in our house. I usually double the recipe so my wife can take some to her employees at work the next day. The only thing I do different is to deep fry strips of corn tortillas to put on the bottom of the bowls and also on top as a garnish, and I also add a dollop of sour cream with the cilantro. This is a big hit with everyone!

Asian Chicken Salad
This was an excellent salad. I marinated then cooked chicken tenderloins in a sesame sauce from the international section at the store. I also fried won ton skins instead of the noodles mainly because of the carb compairson. I am planning on using the dressing on other garden salads. Thanks for a great recipe!

Party Shrimp Dip
This was so easy and so tasty. I made it exactly like the recipe except I added a little bit of parsley flakes and some paprika on top for color and presentation, and it was gobbled up very quickly by my family. This is going to be something I will make for any party or family dinner we have. It is great with either chips or crackers. Thanks for posting this!-sangus
