Parmesan Brussels Sprouts

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2013
I wish I could make this a 6 star recipe because I have only had brussel sprouts twice in my life and I HATED them. My husband insisted on buying these little alien vegetables last week as he has loved them as a kid so I scoured the net for seemed to be the best way to eat them. I settled on this recipe and I can't believe how much I now love brussel sprouts. I have cooked them twice since and I will keep cooking them thanks to this recipe. I love this website! thank you

Easy Maple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2013
I was a little hesitant as the ingridients didn't look like they would taste good together but I trusted the reviews and the recipe was amazing. We sopped up the sauce with our potatoes and broccoli. The only things I changed is that I added 2 cups onion because we love them and I seared my chops in a cast iron skillet and placed the skilet directly into the oven rather than transfer to a casserole dish. Would definitely make it again

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2013
This is by far the best stir fry I have ever made and it is now my go-to recipe. I made some adjustments based on my pantry: I used raw shrimp, I shaved fresh ginger (I keep one in the freezer at all times), and I replaced the red chili flakes with a little squirt of siracha sauce because I don't like really spicy food and it gave me the right heat. My husband cleaned his plate and we discussed how awesome this would be as a beef marinade for the grill.

Greek Style Garlic Chicken Breast

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2015
This is as authentic as it gets. I tweaked it for my taste buds (original recipe is great as-is). I halved the oil, doubles the lemon, crushed 6 garlic cloves, added 1 tsp of oregano and thyme. I also didn't cut any slits in the chicken as I think this would let the juices out. I also used canola oil instead of Olive oil as olive oil is not meant for high heat cooking.

Brown Sugar Smokies

Reviewed: Feb. 2, 2015
Made these for Superbowl party and they were a huge hit with both men and women. The only thing I changed was to toss the bacon and smokies in the brown sugar before wrapping. This used closer to 3 cups sugar. I didn't have much fat or a mess in the pan as others have commented. This may have been because of the sugar on the inside of the bacon soaking it up. Definitely a keeper

Classic CRISCO® Pie Crust

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2014
This has been my go-to pie crust recipe since I started baking as a teenager. A few tweeks my mom taught me and its perfect. I use ice water and add 2 tbsp vinegar to it. I start with 3 tbsp water, tossing it ever so lightly and add 2 more. The trick is to toss as lightly and as little as possible. These are not a waste of ingredients, you just need practice.

Spicy Refrigerator Dill Pickles

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2014
This recipe is SO good and SO easy to make. I cut the sugar in half as others suggested but otherwise made it exactly as written. I am not a fan of sour foods so I found it too tart but my husband who loves sour thought they were perfect. Definitely a keeper!

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Jan. 12, 2014
This dip is FABULOUS!!! I made it for a dinner party I was hosting and the guests couldn't stop raving about it. Its truly an awesome dip and definitely an appetizer staple from now on. I followed the advice of others and used sour cream instead of mayo, put the mozzarella in the mixture instead of on top, and doubled the garlic. The best part....because its a cream cheese base I used the cold leftovers as a bagel spread the next morning and it was just as fabulous! UPDATE: I have made this at every party Ive hosted & pot lucks attended and its ALWAYS gotten rave reviews.

Savory Crab Stuffed Mushrooms

Reviewed: May 7, 2013
I made this appetizer as written, it yielded 29 mushroom caps, and served it at a family function. The comments were that it was "ok". I have to agree with another reviewer who commented the recipe was bland, it really did lack flavour. It wasn't bad, just lacked that extra something. I do however think its a great idea, easy to make and worth making again with a little tweaking on spices. I would recommend to any first-time makers of this recipe to add some sort of kick to the mixture. I'll figure out what and re-comment

Rosemary Pull-Apart Dinner Rolls

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2015
Let me start by saying I have never made bread before and the thought of it has always been rather intimidating. These were so easy to make and very tasty. I was hosting a chili competition and I really wanted to try my hand at making dinner rolls. WATCH THE VIDEO FIRST! I didnt watch the video and so I had to go back and a fix my batter when it was too sticky but they still turned out great. I needed at least double the amounnt of flour

Boilermaker Tailgate Chili

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2015
Made this for a chili competition I was hosting and it won!! I finally won! My changes: I left out the sausage and bacon (some guests couldn't eat pork) and used 3lbs ground beef, I used a full bottle of Rickards Red beer, used only 2 cans red kidney beans, and I omitted the chili peppers. I had 2 separate people tell me it tasted like Wendy's chili. lol

White Chili IV

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2015
Is this chili ever GOOD!! I made it for a chili competition I was hosting, I didn't enter it because I was afraid no one would like it so instead made it for "fun". Well let me tell you, EVERYBODY raved about how good it was and said it should have been entered. The only changes I made was to use 1lb ground turkey instead of chicken breasts for a more chili consistency. I used 2 cans white kidney beans instead of 3 pinto and I also added a cup of frozen corn. I simmered it as long as a regular chili and it had the same think consistency of a regular chili. Not soupy at all. VERY GOOD!!

Flourless Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Feb. 9, 2015
Great recipe! Made exactly as written except I used 3 3/4 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips instead as thats all I had in my pantry. I'm looking forward to trying another poster's recommendation to sub grand marnier for the water.
