Cheese Babka

Reviewed: May 5, 2011
After searching for a cheese babka for Easter and finding that all the stores and bakeries were out of them, we decided to make this on Easter Eve! My husband put all of the dough ingredients into the bread machine and ran it on the dough cycle while I was at work. When I got home, I removed the dough and got started. The dough was very sticky, so I would probably add some additional flour next time. For the filling, I subbed cream cheese for the farmers cheese and I also didn't need the whole 2 tbl. of melted butter, but otherwise I followed the recipe and it came out fabulous. On Easter, my family all said they hoped I would make it every year and never buy one again. This definitely was equal or better than any babka we've purchased...even from the Polish bakery. It wasn't too difficult to make and was so worth it. Thanks for sharing the recipe. It will now be a family Easter tradition for us. (Mine came out a little dark. My oven runs low, so I upped the temp to 375. Next time, I'll leave it at 350 and I think it'll be perfect.)

Boneless Buffalo Wings

Reviewed: Apr. 27, 2011
I used two+ pounds of thinly sliced chicken breasts, cutting each one into 3 long pieces. I needed to double the flour mixture but not the egg/milk. I fried in a cast iron skillet in 4 batches, with just enough oil to fry each side and then flip. My family all loved these and my daughter said it's now her favorite meal. Thank you for posting this...we'll be enjoying it often.

Coconut Chocolate Cake II

Reviewed: May 19, 2002
This was exceptional! The only thing I have to add is this: Make sure you let the coconut filling cool before attempting to use it. I didn't let it cool and when I started frosting with the chocolate, I had the coconut oozing out all over and it made a real mess. Fortunately, putting it in the fridge for an hour saved it. Once it set a bit I kind of smooshed everything back it and refrosted over with more chocolate frosting. It ended up looking great and tasting even better! I used devil's food cake mix and milk chocolate frosting...next time I think I will try dark chocolate frosting. Thanks!

Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
This recipe was a different way to prepare pork chops and it was tasty, however it was a lot of work. Between all of the chopping and slicing, browning, etc., it made a lot of dirty dishes and extra work. My whole family liked it and my usually picky son said it was the best pork he ever had, but no one except me and my husband ate the apples...which by the way, did not taste like apples anymore! It smelled good cooking and looked pretty when it came out, but its true...they just kind of tasted like plain pork chops and I expected more with this much work and lots of ingredients.

Creamy Rice Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
This was the first rice pudding recipe that I ever made that came out "just right"! It was not too thick or too thin (my usual problem!) Everyone agreed it was delicious. I doubled the recipe and it still came out wonderful. I used boil in bag rice, so that cut some time off, but I still stood for quite awhile in front of the stove :)

Cinnamon Chocolate Pudding

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2002
My daughter made this for an assignment she had for Spanish class. Our whole family liked it, but not as much as regular chocolate pudding. You really have to like cinnamon.

I made this for my daughter's communion party and the adults as well as the kids loved it! Grown men were drinking this non alcoholic punch instead of beer! It is a great unique punch recipe. Thanks!

Basic Pasta

Reviewed: May 22, 2001
This is a great fresh pasta recipe. I tripled the recipe and it was very good. I think I made it a little too moist, because it stuck a little in my pasta machine, but I just dusted each piece with a little flour.

Hot Fudge Ice Cream Bar Dessert

Reviewed: Apr. 19, 2001
This is an awesome dessert! I made it, but I omitted the peanut butter and peanuts. On the top I sprinkled marachino cherries, the chocolate sauce, butterscotch sauce & chopped walnuts. I also served sliced bananas on the side and called it "Banana Split Dessert"!

The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2001
These cookies are soft and yummy, but extremely hard to work with. Even after chilling for 6 hours, the dough was sticky and needed to be kneaded with some flour. Toward the end, I rolled the dough out between 2 sheets of wax paper, and then put that in the freezer for a few minutes. It made them much easier to cut. (I cut and baked, and by 4 kids decorated with icing and sprinkles.) The whole project took almost 5 hours but we all had fun and everyone loved the results. P.S. I will definately add more flour next time!

Swiss Chicken Casserole I

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2001
This is a different way to prepare chicken breasts, since we have them every week, and it way so fast and easy. I used 8 pieces instead of 6 and I even left off the cheese because I don't usually don't buy it, and the recipe still came out great. (P.S. It was so easy, I put it in the oven and forgot about it! I left it in 20 minutes too long and it was OK!)

Cream Cheese Spritz

Reviewed: Apr. 11, 2001
This is a great pressed cookie recipe. They came out of the gun great and kept their shape after baking. I added food coloring so I would have pastel flowers for Easter and I also sprinkled some colored sprinkles on top before baking. The cookies came out light and delicate and the lemon, cream cheese combination of flavors is wonderful. I doubled the recipe and I will still probably run out before Easter!!! A keeper!!

Beef and Noodle Casserole

Reviewed: Jun. 23, 2000
This is a great recipe! Everyone in my family loved it. I had to make a few adjustments...I didn't have egg noodles, so I used elbow macaroni. Also, I didn't have sherry, so I just didn't add it or anything else as a replacement. I used garlic powder instead of real garlic. The recipe doesn't say when to add the cheddar cheese, so I stirred 3/4 of it into the mixture before pouring it into a casserole dish, then sprinkled the rest on top (instead of parmesan). I guess maybe I made a whole new recipe, but the basic premise was from this recipe, and it did turn out great!
