Downeast Maine Pumpkin Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2014
This is a homerun! Followed the recipe to the letter except I added 1/2 cup of applesauce (sugarfree) and a splash of vanilla. At first when I tried it right out of the oven I thought it had a very strong nutmeg flavor but upon the second try (after about an hour or so of cooling) the nutmeg flavor melted into the other flavors. This was a HUGE hit at Thanksgiving and it was devoured almost instantly! Super YUMMY!!!

Best Big, Fat, Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookie

I am middle of the road with these. They were defintiely large, I will give them that. They tasted good but mine came out crispy not chewy. Next time I will cook them for a shorter period of time.

Brooke's Best Bombshell Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2012
I am giving this only 3 stars because the first batch (which I made with 3 cups white sugar) did not come out that great. I definitely overcooked them which probably made me like them less but when I followed the other reviewers advice and used half white sugar and half brown sugar it came out much better! And I did not over cook them this time either.

Slow Cooker Turkey Breast

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
This turkey recipe is amazing! This is the first time I have ever made turkey in the slow cooker and I don't think I will ever do a traditional roast turkey again. This blew it away by far! I used a 5 pd boneless turkey breast. I did add a couple of extra things as per some of the previous reviewers suggestions. I never like putting meat into my slow cooker without having any type of liquid on the bottom so I added 1/4 cup of chicken broth to the bottom. I also cut up three celery stalks and a sweet onion (chopped) and put that on the bottom of the crockpot. I lifted up the skin and put the Onion soup mix under the skin and on top. The last little addition was to put about 1 tbsp of butter cut into little chunks under the skin in different areas of the turkey. Followed the cooking directions listed and the turkey literally fell apart when it was done. It was tender and moist and had a wonderful flavor. The best turkey I have ever made by far!

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2012
Wow, this recipe is AMAZING!!! I got rave reviews for this dish. I cut down the size for 8 people instead of the original amount and added 4 tbsps of sugar. It literally took me 5 minutes to prepare and it was one of the best dishes on the table. This will be a Turkey Day staple at my house from now on!

Linguine with Scampi

This was pretty good except that it was REALLY heavy on the butter. If I make it again I will cut the butter/oil in half.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2004
This was amazing! I hosted Thanskgiving for the first time this year and I was told that this was the best turkey that the family has had in a very long time. There were only two things that I added. The first was that I rubbed oranges on the whole turkey the night before to give it a tiny bit of extra flavor. The other thing that I needed to do was make extra drippings about 4 times during the course of cooking the turkey. It seemed that there was not enough liquid and it evaporated away while cooking. Not a big deal at all. I just mixed together some more bullion and spices and basted the turkey with it and dumped it in the bottom of the roasting pan. Excellent recipe and I will be using it again next year!
