I am a working mother, with 2 kiddos (12 and 9), I am usually home before either one gets off the bus. It is a perk that comes with my job. SO most nights I am able to get a nice dinner prepared. I was wondering why in the hobbies section cooking wasn't a choice? I love to find recipes my picky 9 year old will eat.
My favorite things to cook
I really like challenges in cooking, yet I don't like gourmet. I guess I like home cooking, that's healthy for you.
My cooking triumphs
I have created a list of ALL the meals I have ever made... so when I make out my grocery list and I am tired of making the same ole, same ole. I break this out and pick something that we haven't eaten in a while. Oh and within the last year I have purchase an electric smoker and have created some incredible meals. It almost acts like a slow cooker. My family's favorite... smoked chicken wings...YUM!! I also LOVE to share my recipes to anyone.
My cooking tragedies
Oh...I have been cooking for 20 years, I couldn't name them all. Without a tradedy you can't have a good cook; otherwise you don't learn from your mistakes.

Anne's Hot Ham and Swiss Dip
Hmmmm...I made this yesterday for a pool party. I came home with the entire batch. It was extremely soupy, not dip like at all. It reminded me of chipped beef gravy. I am not sure what I did wrong but I was very dissappointed. I was so looking forward to a new appetizer to put in my recipe box. The reason I gave it 3 stars is because the flavor is really good, however not as a dip. As the other reviews said; this would be good over chicken.

Beef and Irish Stout Stew
OMG!! This has become one of our favorite meals. This will be my 2nd time making it since St. Paddy's day. I too add beef broth right before I serve it over mashed potatoes, and I don't add the carrots. My very picky 9 year old said: "Mom, I really like this, when can we have it again?" He will be very happy to know that it will be tonight after he gets home from school. I have also suggested to my mother to serve this on one of her Senior meals (where she and my dad cook for 120 seniors in their small town and several other communities surrounding it, once a month).
