Blueberry Sour Cream Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
I used low-fat sour cream, omitted the nuts (don't like nuts in my food!), used half margarine and half butter and used splenda in place of real sugar. It was very easy to prepare and it took every bit of an hour to bake - but I also used frozen blueberries. It was good but I didn't think absolutely wonderful. Thanks for sharing!

Whipped Shortbread Cookies

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2005
Yum, yum. I just got done making these - followed the recipe as written but didn't add the cherries. I added a chocolate piece in the middle and on others added a bit of strawberry preserves. After trying the first one, I'm thinking the flavor comes out better when they are just plain. Baked for the entire time - slightly browned on the bottom, and they did not crumble at all. Thanks for sharing!

Caramels I

Reviewed: Dec. 19, 2005
It would be good to find out approximately how long this needs to boil until it reaches the proper temperature, as mine took an incredibly long time. I also wish I'd read the one further review that said to cook in an extra large pan - I had to ladle out some of the mixture half way through the cooking time because it was boiling over. Also, what temp are you supposed to boil at (without stirring) as my mixture burned on the bottom?

Sour Cream Pork Chops

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2005
I made this exactly as stated, only reducing the amounts, since I only made three pork chops. Used 1 inch chops, and they turned out very tender. But the flavor just wasn't there - I'm not sure what would have made it better. But I loved the idea of pork chops in the crock pot. Thanks for sharing, Ami.

Cheesecake Topped Brownies

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2005
Yum, yum, yum. I made no changes to the recipe and it came out wonderful. I baked mine for 45 minutes in a 9x13 pan (as directed) and the brownies were done as was the cheesecake topping (and I used a brownie mix that was "family" size and meant to be baked in a 9x13 pan.) I don't think the cheesecake was too sweet, but with the frosting, it was a perfect combination. Thanks for sharing, Nancy.

Oatmeal Delights

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2005
I added about 1/4 cup more flour (which I always do when making chocolate chip cookies) to make them less "flat" and rise a bit more. Also used butterscotch morsels in place of semisweet chips. These were perfect - not flat at all and the taste was great! I also used splenda sugar substitute in place of white sugar. Yum, Yum. Thanks for sharing, Anna Banana!

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2005
Very moist and very good. I did add about 1/4 cup more pumpkin, used Splenda for the sugar and didn't add cloves, but added pumpkin pie spice instead. I also added one chopped apple. Can I still give it five stars if I changed it? I did notice that the muffins stuck to the paper liners a bit, even after they cooled. Maybe a spray of Pam next time would work. Thanks for sharing, Donna.

Bow Ties with Sausage, Tomatoes and Cream

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
Wow - this was SO good! I was looking to make something that I had almost all the ingredients for, and this came up. I did use the canned, diced tomatoes that come with garlic, basil and onion instead of the plum tomatoes, and I didn't have cream so I used fat free milk with 2-3 tablespoons of flour mixed in (but now wonder if I needed the flour.) And I had about 1/4 cup left over alfredo sauce (the kind in the jar) so I added that in too. I didn't cook the sausage in oil, because I felt it didn't need it, and I added no salt. Yum, yum, yum. Will definitely make again for friends. I think the possibilities with this recipe are endless. Thanks for sharing, Linda.

Iced Pumpkin Cookies

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2005
These were good, but didn't really knock my socks off. I think Pumpkin Cookies 1 were a bit better, and they didn't have icing on them (and didn't need it.) They were very easy to make tho - thanks for sharing, Gina.

Pumpkin Cookies I

Reviewed: Oct. 24, 2005
Yum! Just took these out of the oven, and yes, they took about 12-14 minutes to bake, but oh, are they good. Great pumpkin flavor. I didn't have butterscotch chips so I used semi-sweet chips. I also used a melon ball scoop, which is about a tablespoon, so maybe that's why they took longer. The recipe said to grease the cookie sheet, so I sprayed with Pam and had no problem. Thanks for sharing, M.J!

Uncooked Banana Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2005
How many yum, yum, yums can I give this?! It was so easy and so very good. I also love those soggy wafers in the whole mix. I did end up with the pudding mixture on top so the bananas kept their color. I also used non-fat milk and light cool whip. Thanks for sharing LeAnne!

Lemon Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2005
This was good - very light tasting - but not out of this world good. I did use lemon cake mix and lemon pudding, although I could not find a 1 oz. pudding box as the recipe says, so I used the regular 3.4 oz. box. Also baked in a 10x13 pan and it came out perfect in size.

Double Chocolate Brownie Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 9, 2005
Very quick and easy, however, I didn't think it had the brownie taste many people talked about, but still very delicious and very chocolately. It was a bit gooey inside, but I think that's cause we cut it about 45 minutes after it came out of the oven. I also baked it for just over a hour. Thanks for sharing!

Shoot! I just submitted this recipe only using grape jello. I have used this recipe for years and get raves from everyone. Delicious!

Woof! Woof! My owner made these for me last night. Better than the store bought kind. I hope if I'm a good dog she'll give me another treat tonight!

Thai Chicken Pizza

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2005
I thought this was good but "needed" something. My daughter loved it. I also used less peanut butter (as other reviewers suggested) and cooked the chicken in soy and garlic. I bought a refrigerated pizza crust, cooked it until lightly browned and then immediately spread the peanut sauce over. I would make this again. Thanks for sharing.

Breakfast Casserole

Reviewed: Mar. 29, 2005
Very good and easy to prepare. I also cooked it for almost an hour (it was filled to the top in my 9x13 pan) and also used the Ritz crackers on top. Yum. We are still eating leftovers. Thanks for sharing.

Gob Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2005
The cake portion of this was incredibly moist and wonderful and tasted just like the cake portion of a gob. The icing, however, was a bit of a mess. While beating it for the 10 minutes, it became a kind of runny mess - maybe it was the shortening? I finally added some confectioners sugar, which made it a little better. It still tasted good, but looked strange. I'll make again with a different icing.

Chocolate Candy Bar Cake

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2005
I made this in two square 8x8 disposable pans, so I had to increase the cooking time by about 10 minutes. It was a delicious, moist cake. I also added chopped peanut butter cups to the icing, as someone suggested. It was great! Thanks for sharing.
